Betting on the 2025 IPL has been suspended across top cricket bookmakers after news on Friday that the tournament would be postponed for one week due to border tensions between India and Pakistan.

Conflict has escalated over the past three days in the Kashmir region of India, with heavy gunfire and missile strikes exchanged between the two nations.

“The decision [to postpone the IPL] was taken by the IPL Governing Council after due consultation with all key stakeholders following the representations from most of the franchisees,” a statement by the Board of Control for Cricket in India read.

“Further updates regarding the new schedule and venues of the tournament will be announced in due course after a comprehensive assessment of the situation in consultation with relevant authorities and stakeholders.”

The 2025 IPL had just 12 regular season matches remained before the playoffs began, with Gujarat Titans leading title betting across cricket betting sites.

The side sat top of the table after 11 matches and were priced at +250 by Nags.bet to win their second title, ahead of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (+260), Mumbai Indians (+275) and Punjab Kings (+400).

Since the competition’s postponement, the England and Wales Cricket Board has come forward and offered to host the remainer of the tournament.

ECB Chief Executive Richard Gould has reportedly reached out to the BCCI to offer his support, with the potential of the IPL taking place in September in England should it not resume next week.

Meanwhile, foreign cricket players have fled India, with Australians Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Starc, Travis Head, Marcus Stoinis, Josh Inglis, Mitch Marsh, Nathan Ellis, Aaron Hardie and Xavier Bartlett all heading home.

“We continue to closely monitor the situation in Pakistan and India,” a Cricket Australia spokesperson said.

“Including obtaining regular advice and updates from the Australian government, the PCB, BCCI and local government authorities, and maintaining communication with our players and support staff currently in the region.”
