Michigan legalizes online sports betting and casino gambling

The US state of Michigan recently passed legislation legalizing online sports betting and casino gambling. Now, land-based gambling titan Wynn Resorts has announced a major deal with turnkey gambling software house GAN.

The deal spans an impressive ten years. It will allow Wynn Resorts to compete on equal footing with early Michigan sports betting sites, like DraftKings or Barstool. GAN’s expertise will streamline the implementation of digital gambling for Wynn.

Meanwhile, Wynn’s major brand name recognition will hopefully allow the two companies to capture a sizable slice of the market. Wynn already has a considerable player base in the Michigan region.

Gareth Bale Confirmed To Return To Tottenham Hotspur | EFL

Welsh forward Gareth Bale was recently benched by an injury sustained during an international break. However, Bale could be back in action with Tottenham as soon as October 18. Bale, on loan to the Spurs from Real Madrid for a £20 million season, has been recovering for some time now.

Last month, Jose Mourinho told the press that Bale’s return was still uncertain, but that he was in high spirits and very motivated. This isn’t Bale’s first stint with the Tottenham outfit, having played with the team from 2007 until 2013.

Mourinho, head manager of the Spurs, famously managed Bale’s current contract-holders, Real Madrid, from 2010 until 2013. However, Mourinho and Bale never overlapped in their time at Madrid or Tottenham until now.

South Africa Disappointing Start In The New Kit

Sporting a brand-new official uniform, the South African Football team faced off against the Namibian selection. The match took place in Rustenburg, South Africa’s Royal Bafokeng Stadium.

Despite the home field (and new kit) advantage, South Africa failed to snatch a victory from Namibia, finishing 1-1. Considering the latter team is much lower in the rankings and in the South African bookmakers odds, it’s a major disappointment for South Africa.

FIFA Tackles Football Integrity At European Sports Betting Conference

Ennio Bovolenta, FIFA head of integrity, will be delivering the keynote address in the Sports Integrity forum of the Betting on Sports Europe digital conference. Mr. Bovolenta will lead a session entitled “Protecting the Beautiful Game.” It will discuss FIFA’s responsibilities in policing the sport and shielding it from malicious influences.

Topics will include protecting professional football from outside manipulation, FIFA integrity promotion plans, and education initiatives. FIFA’s record on ethics and integrity has been somewhat battered in recent years. High-profile corruption and bribery cases like the 2018 Ghana scandal haven’t helped the organization’s reputation.

Furthermore, Aspire Global (BtoBet’s parent company) sees the partnership as an opportunity for international growth. Leveraging Betfair’s industry expertise, Aspire Global seeks to explore new regulated markets.

Drunken Mistake Nets Aussie Punter A $600,000 Pay Day

A very lucky Australian gambler just had one of the most fortunate betting mistakes on record yet. The man intended to place a $6 wager on ten different combinations with the Sportsbet bookmakers. The total stake would’ve been just north of $60.

However, after a long night of drinking, the punter actually entered a stake worth a whopping $6,000. As a result, his winnings sprung from a potential $6,000 to a massive $600,000. As luck would have it, his ten selections happened to pay out.

Adding to the man’s good fortune is the fact that each of his selections had to face relatively long odds. The longest-priced selection had odds of more than $151.

All Blacks Gear Up Against Wallabies For Bledisloe Cup

After months of absence from the international scene, Rugby Union is back in a big way. Australia and New Zealand are about to face off in the classic Bledisloe Cup. The first match of the event will be played this Sunday, October 11, in Wellington’s Sky Stadium.

This first test comes after the All Blacks coach, Ian Foster, announced some hotly-contested selections. They include the likes of Jordie Barrett and Rieko Ioane playing outside their specialties, and Anton Lienert-Brown on the bench. Jordie was pushed back to right wing after Foster decided to name Jordie’s older brother, Beauden Barrett, as fullback. While many fans are worried about these changes to the lineup, Foster seems confident in his choices.
