If the first Test is anything to go by, cricket fans could be in for a treat when the 2019 Ashes series heads to London this week.
Australia were on the brink of disaster midway through day one at Edgbaston, but a batting masterclass from Steve Smith turned the match on its head.
He was backed up by a superb bowling attack, yet there is a lingering suspicion that either James Pattinson or Peter Siddle could make way for the raw pace of Mitchell Starc at Lord’s.
Australians have plenty of options to bet on this match, with many of the best AU betting sites having extensive odds already available. It’s much the same for those looking for a UK licensed online betting site.
There is also pressure on opening bats Cameron Bancroft and David Warner, with Marcus Harris ready to step in if either fails to make an impact in the second Test.

England have already rung the changes after a dismal collapse in Birmingham, where they went down by 251 runs after Australia were in serious trouble at 8/122 on day one.
James Anderson’s calf injury was a big factor in the failing of the English attack, and there are serious doubts about the veteran seamer’s availability for the remainder of the series.
That means a Test debut for Barbadian import Jofra Archer, who declared his form and fitness with a six-for and a century for the Sussex Second XI last week.
The selectors have also put Moeen Ali out of his misery, dropping the allrounder after a nervous and ineffectual performance in Birmingham.
Left-arm spinner Jack Leach joins the squad in Ali’s absence and looks likely to get the nod ahead of Sam Curran, unless the Lord’s curators deliver another juicy green top.
England vs Australia 2nd Test top runscorer betting
Joe Root – +250 at Bovada
Although Rory Burns made the runs in Brum, he never looked good doing it. Root is the class act in the England top order and will need to deliver a captain’s knock to get this series back on track.
Steve Smith – +150 at Bovada
What more superlatives can we throw at this man? Smith announced his return to Test cricket in the most magnificent fashion and looms as the lynchpin of the Aussie batting order once again.
England vs Australia 2nd Test top wicket-taker odds
Chris Woakes – +275 at Bovada
All eyes are on Jofra Archer, but Woakes is the man with the numbers at Lord’s. The talented allrounder destroyed Ireland here a few weeks ago and takes on more responsibility with Jimmy Anderson out.
Pat Cummins – +225 at Bovada
One could argue that Cummins was the least impressive of the Australian bowlers at Edgbaston, yet he finished the match with seven wickets. His ability to hit a length at pace makes him dangerous on the Lord’s slope.
England vs Australia 2nd Test predictions
Australia to win – +185 at Bovada
The bookies can barely separate England, Australia and the draw, but punters would be foolish to ignore the importance of confidence and momentum. If the Aussie top order clicks, it is hard to see the hosts keeping up.
