Bartlett, Fraser-McGurk star as Australia trounce West Indies

The Australian men’s cricket team wrapped up a 3-0 series win in Canberra on Tuesday after defeating the West Indies in brutal fashion.

The tourists were skittled for just 86 at Manuka Oval, with only three players managing to reach double digits.

Queensland seamer Xavier Bartlett did the bulk of the damage, taking 4/21 in his second four-wicket haul from as many One Day International (ODI) appearances.

Despite missing the second game of the series in Sydney, Bartlett’s efforts in Melbourne and Canberra were enough to earn him player of the series.

West Australian tearaway Lance Morris was also impressive with 2/13 from 4.3 overs, although his match was cut short by a side strain.

The Aussie batters made short work of a small total, with Josh Inglis (35*) and rookie Jake Fraser-McGurk (41) blasting the hosts to an eight-wicket win inside seven overs.

These are promising signs for 2023 Cricket World Cup winners as they look to nail down replacements for the long-serving opening pair of Aaron Finch and David Warner, with both veterans retiring from international play in the past 12 months.

Next up for Australia is a three-match T20 series against the West Indies, kicking off in Hobart on Friday.

The hosts are -357.14 favourites to take out the opening game, with the visitors paying long odds of +275 at Bovada.
