BetMGM teams up with Puyallup Tribe in Washington State

BetMGM sports betting news

BetMGM has announced that it will be entering the regulated Washington State sports betting market soon via a partnership with the Puyallup Tribe.

The terms of this latest agreement allow the operator to run retail sportsbooks at the tribe’s two casinos: Emerald Queen Casino in Fife and its sister property in Tacoma.

According to partners, both sportsbooks will bear the BetMGM brand, and patrons visiting these facilities will not only be able to place bets on pro and college football events, but they will also enjoy the best sports viewing experience powered by the latest technology.

The BetMGM @ EQC Sportsbook in Tacoma, for example, will feature a sports viewing area with 12 86-inch HD televisions and a giant 500+ square-foot LED wall. The facility will also feature 30 self-service sports betting kiosks and six live ticket windows. Its sister casino, EQC Fife, will have 22 sports wagering kiosks.

The agreement is subject to regulatory approval.

BetMGM and Emerald Queen hail ‘ideal’ partnership

Both BetMGM and Emerald Queen Casino have issued official statements to welcome this latest partnership.

In its comments, BetMGM said that the deal was a key moment for the company as it continues to expand its presence in the Western region of the country. The brand is operational in the neighboring state of Oregon via a partnership with Spirit Mountain Casino, and it is also live in Nevada, Arizona, Wyoming, and Colorado.

“Today’s announcement marks another key moment in the expansion of BetMGM as we extend our western footprint into Washington,” said Adam Greenblatt, CEO of BetMGM.

“The Puyallup Tribe and Emerald Queen Casino are ideal partners for us as they represent the same high level of service, amenities, and experiences that is built into our DNA at BetMGM.”

The General Manager of Emerald Queen, Frank Wright Jr, added, “We are very excited to be working with BetMGM to bring legal sports betting to sports fans in the Pacific Northwest. As industry leaders, EQC and BetMGM are two entertainment powerhouses, and combined we will deliver the ultimate fan experience in sports betting.”

Washington sports betting continues to gain traction

The Puyallup Tribe is the latest Washington Indian tribe to announce a sports betting partner following the legalization of the market in the jurisdiction earlier this year.

Last week, FanDuel inked an agreement that would allow it to pursue a sports betting operator license in the state via a partnership with the Suquamish Tribe-owned Suquamish Clearwater Casino Resort. IGT is also looking forward to opening a second sportsbook in WA, following its recent agreement with the Stillaguamish Tribe and its facility, Angel Of The Winds Casino Resort in Arlington.

The Puyallup, Suquamish, and Stillaguamish are among the 12 Native Indian tribes that were cleared to offer sports betting in Washington State by the DOI last month. The three will join the Snoqualmie Tribe in the precinct’s regulated market when they launch their offering.

The Snoqualmie Tribe was the first to book legal wagers in the state with the launch of its IGT-powered retail sportsbook at the Snoqualmie Casino on September 9.
