Friday’s MLB American League best bets & parlays – June 24, 2022

MLB best bets

On Thursday in Major League Baseball (MLB), White Sox ace Michael Kopech gets to host Baltimore, the Rays host Pittsburgh in an interleague game, and the Nationals go to Texas for another. Here are the best bets on games featuring American League teams scheduled for Friday, June 24, starting at 6:40pm ET.

Baltimore Orioles (+135) @ Chicago White Sox (-155)

Michael Kopech has been stellar for the Sox this season, despite having only two wins to show for it. His 0.99 WHIP is one of the best in the sport, as is his 2.38 ERA. He’s struck out 55 batters in 56.2 innings pitched. Baltimore is mostly unfamiliar with him (0-for-six with six strikeouts), so he’s got that going for him, too. The Orioles have the seventh-worst team OPS in MLB and have scored the seventh fewest runs in baseball.

Kyle Bradish is 1-4 in 10 starts for Baltimore with a 7.38 ERA and 1.77 WHIP. His last two starts have been nightmarish, allowing 11 total runs over 8.2 innings pitched. It won’t matter that the White Sox haven’t seen him, as they’ve found their collective pop at the plate. Chicago is 10th in MLB in team OPS after struggling offensively for much of the spring season.

Take Chicago in the first five innings, on the moneyline, and to win by two or more runs.

Pittsburgh Pirates (+165) @ Tampa Bay Rays (-195)

Jeffrey Springs had been magnificent for Tampa Bay prior to allowing four runs to the aforementioned Orioles in his last start, going 4.1 innings and striking out six. His WHIP still sits at 0.98 and his ERA is 2.00. Pittsburgh is unfamiliar with him, so expect him to be solid for at least the first five innings.

The Rays will be just as unfamiliar with Pirates starter Mitch Keller, who is 2-5 with a 4.72 ERA and 1.44 WHIP in 13 appearances. Don’t expect him to get much run support, as the Pirates are third-worst in runs scored (253) and team OPS (.652) this season.

Take Tampa Bay in the first five innings, on the moneyline, and to win by two. Parlay Tampa with Chicago on the moneyline for +148 odds with Bovada.

Washington Nationals (+110) @ Texas Rangers (-130)

Paolo Espino has been effective for Washington, going 0-1 with a 2.29 ERA and 1.08 WHIP in 22 appearances and 35.1 innings pitched. He most recently went five innings against Philadelphia, allowing just two runs despite walking four. Transitioning him to a starting role seems to be the right idea.

Dane Dunning has not been so good for Texas, going 1-5 with a 4.38 ERA and 1.33 WHIP over 14 starts and 76 innings. With this being another interleague matchup, both offenses will be unfamiliar with the opposing starters. But the Nationals should look better than their 20th-ranked OPS on Friday, while Texas should look worse than their 23rd-ranked team OPS.

Take the Nationals in the first five innings, but expect Texas to comeback thanks to their eighth-ranked team OPS and team ERA after the sixth inning. Take the Rangers on the moneyline and parlay them with the White Sox and Rays for +340 odds.

Texas Rangers to win
