MLB Tuesday best bets & top parlay picks – May 24, 2022

MLB best bets

Tuesday’s Major League Baseball schedule includes nine games that feature American League teams, and that’s where our focus is going to be. Here are BettingPlanet.com’s top picks for the MLB on May 24.

Baltimore Orioles (+185) @ New York Yankees (-225)

Orioles starter Bruce Zimmerman hasn’t had a lot of luck against the Yankees. In 71 at-bats, New York batters have 24 hits off Zimmerman. Aaron Judge is five-for-11 with two homers, Anthony Rizzo is four-of-six with two doubles, and Giancarlo Stanton is four-of-nine with a home run and three runs batted in. A player prop bet on any one of those Yankees to collect multiple total bases is a good bet.

Don’t expect Jordan Montgomery to shut out the Orioles, though. In 144 at-bats, Baltimore has 40 hits off Montgomery. A seemingly safe bet is Anthony Santander collecting multiple total bases via hits. He’s five-for-12 with two doubles and a homer against Montgomery. Robinson Chirinos has two homers and another hit in seven at-bats against Montgomery, so the odds he gets an extra-base hit are pretty good.

Given what we know about these starting pitchers, the odds that more than 8.5 runs will be scored in this game are also pretty good at -105. Bet the over, and take the Yankees against the spread at -115 with Bovada.

Kansas City Royals (+150) @ Arizona Diamondbacks (-170)

Jonathan Heasley is coming off a loss to the White Sox in which he allowed three earned runs over five innings. At least Heasley will have unfamiliarity on his side at the start of this interleague game.

It might not matter given how good Zac Gallen has been. Gallen is 3-0 with a 1.14 ERA and 0.71 WHIP this season. He’ll also have unfamiliarity on his side against the Royals, and Kansas City ranks 25th in OPS.

Take the Diamondbacks on the moneyline, especially to win the first five innings. Kansas City is the highest-scoring team in the seventh inning and beyond.

Boston Red Sox (+135) @ Chicago White Sox (-155)

Dylan Cease has been fantastic for the White Sox this season. He’s 4-1 with a 3.09 ERA and 1.17 WHIP. His numbers against the Red Sox are just as good. In 46 at-bats, Boston batters have managed just 13 hits against him, only two of which went for extra bases. It all adds up to a .587 OPS allowed to Boston.

Nick Pivetta has been serviceable for Boston, posting a 4.22 ERA and 1.15 WHIP thus far this season. He’s been equally serviceable against the White Sox, allowing a .666 OPS in 60 at-bats. Just three of the 15 hits he’s allowed to Chicago batters have gone for extra bases, but multiple White Sox have multiple hits in limited plate appearances against Pivetta.

Jose Abreu has three hits in eight at-bats, including one double. Betting on Abreu to collect at least two total bases might be a good player prop bet. Yasmani Grandal is two-for-seven with a double against Pivetta, and Yoan Moncada is one-for-three with a double. Other Chicago hitters with multiple hits against Pivetta include Tim Anderson, Reese McGuire, and Luis Robert.

Take Chicago on the moneyline and to win by at least two runs. Parlay Chicago, New York, and Arizona on the moneyline for +277 odds, and betting Chicago and New York to win by two or more pays +330.

Chicago White Sox -1.5
