The March Madness final is upon us. It was a long, winding road to get to this point but now it comes down to one game. And it is quite an intriguing one. The North Carolina Tar Heels had a mediocre regular season but had a crazy run to the final that featured wins over the defending champion Baylor Bears and their bitter rivals, the Duke Blue Devils. The Kansas Jayhawks had a less dramatic run to this final where they repeatedly took care of business and won every game with relative ease. Now, they are the final two teams and competing for the ultimate prize, an NCAA basketball championship. Here are the best ways to bet on this game, which takes place on Monday, April 4 at the Superdome in New Orleans.
North Carolina Tar Heels vs Kansas Jayhawks match prediction
North Carolina is coming off an emotional win where they beat Duke in the Final Four. It may be crazy to say a team can have a letdown game in a championship game but that’s what we have here. UNC is flying high right now and their win over Duke mirrored the excitement of a championship game. They are simply happy to be here at this point and they will be emotionally drained for this game. While UNC is playing great basketball, Kansas has matched their level of play with a lot less press. This creates an interesting situation where the underdog, UNC, is getting a lot more media coverage and the Tar Heel players may let it get to their heads. Kansas is working in the shadows, without the spotlight, and that will be a huge advantage for this game.
Kansas has been quietly taking care of every team that steps in their way. With a deep team led by Ochai Agbaji, they have all the pieces to match up to UNC and overwhelm them physically. Their point guard, Remy Martin has been a revelation in this tournament and has been playing the best basketball of his season. He will be the x-factor in this game and will be the most important piece to slow down UNC’s guards. Similarly, Kansas has a center named David McCormack who will be their best option to slow down UNC’s best player, big man Armando Bacot. All in all, Kansas provides a unique matchup nightmare for UNC and should be able to slow them down like no other teams have been able to. Take Kansas -4 in a game that should not be as close as many people project.
Kansas Jayhawks -4
First to 10 Points – Kansas Jayhawks
For all of the reasons listed above, this is a great bet. UNC will come out slow and Kansas should jump all over them. UNC’s huge win against Duke will still be on their minds when this game tips and it provides an opportunity for Kansas to get a big lead early. Also, in Kansas’ last three games, they have started hot and rode that momentum to a win. While this line may be a little heavy, it’s still great value. Kansas has been dominant in the beginning of games all tournament, and this game should be no different.
Kansas Jayhawks first to 10 points
Final Four Most Outstanding Player – David McCormack
Big man David McCormack already has a good start on this award and this line is ridiculously good value. Against Villanova in the Final Four, McCormack dominated with 25 points and nine rebounds. He only missed two shots in the contest and was far and away the best player on the court. He is a great defender and will be tasked with slowing down Armando Bacot in the championship game. If he can handle his duties defensively and toss in around 20 points like he has done all tournament, McCormack will have a great shot at winning the Most Outstanding Player award. It won’t be easy, as Bacot is a great player, but the value on McCormack’s line is too much to pass up. Take him to win Final Four MOP +1500 and watch the big man dominate on Monday night.
