Oregon have won their first two games of the season, both against decent teams. In their last game they turned on the offense in their 106-75 rout of Boise State.
Memphis are also at 2-0 and while they have not played great teams, they have won both of their games by blowouts. New head coach Penny Hardaway has a lot of young talent on the team, including star freshman James Wiseman. There is big drama for Wiseman, as he was ruled ineligible by the NCAA and then got a court order to play in a move that may cost the Tigers a post-season ban.
This is the first-ever meeting between Oregon and Memphis. The winner of this game will face the winner of the Oregon State vs Oklahoma game in the final.
The Tigers return no starters from last season’s team that went 22-14 and lost in the second round of the NIT. However, Wiseman is the nation’s top freshman and five other freshmen are in the top 100. Wiseman won the AAC Freshman of the Week and Lute Olson took out National Player of the Week honors last week, as in the Tigers’ two wins he was a monster with 45 points, 20 rebounds and eight blocks.
In Memphis’ last game they crushed UIC, beating them 92-46 and holding them to a FG% of only 24.2. Boogie Ellis led the way with 22 points on 8/11 shooting, Wiseman went for 17 points and nine rebounds, and three other players scored in double figures.

Wiseman is a 7’1” center and the Memphis frontcourt also features Precious Achiuwa (12.5 ppg, 7.5 rpg), so the Ducks have their work cut out in terms of interior defense.
Oregon lit up the scoreboard in their win over Boise State, scoring 58 points in the second half and shooting a scorching 70% from the floor. Anthony Mathis led the way in that game with 30 points after only going for nine points in the season opener, while Payton Pritchard had 19 points and Shakur Juiston had 16.
Francis Okoro (10 ppg, 10 rpg) leads the Ducks in rebounding. Of all the guys for Oregon that have seen playing time this season, none are over 6’9”. Because of that the inside guys will have to play together to keep Wiseman from dominating the paint.

Oregon vs Memphis NCAAB betting picks
Memphis Tigers -4 at -111.11 at Bovada
If you look at Oregon’s betting trends, they are pretty impressive. However, while they are a solid squad and have a real shot to win the Pac-12, they do not match up well with Memphis. The Ducks do not feature a lot of size and that will hurt them in this game facing Wiseman and Achiuwa. Wiseman will have another big game and show why there is a good chance he will be the top pick in the next NBA Draft. Memphis will not blow out Oregon, but they will win and cover the spread.
