Resorts WorldBET enters New York sports betting market

New York sports betting hearing

Resorts World is the newest operator to join the New York mobile sportsbook market.

On Thursday, Resorts World New York City (RWNYC) announced that it had launched its digital sports wagering product, Resorts WorldBET, in the Empire State. According to the operator, the sportsbook took its first wagers in the state without a glitch, marking the brand’s successful entry into the regulated US sports betting industry. The rollout comes just one week before the start of March Madness.

Resorts WorldBET is greeting all its new customers with a risk-free first bet worth up to $500. The operator is also giving free gifts to all Genting Rewards members visiting the Queens facility or its sister property, Resorts World Catskills in Monticello, if they show the app and deposit at least $25. The giveaway will run throughout March Madness.

The licensee further revealed that it had installed video displays worth nearly $1 million across the Queens casino as part of the launch. Although RWNYC does not offer in-person betting, patrons visiting the facility will be able to watch all the big matches on the screens all year round.

Resorts World taps PointsBet to power sportsbook

In a statement about the rollout, Robert DeSalvio, the President of Genting Americas East, said that the operator had used the feedback from sportsbook customers at Resorts World Catskills and its Las Vegas properties to develop an app that meets the needs of New York players.

The newly launched Resorts WorldBET online and mobile sports betting product will run on PointsBet’s platform.

“This is something our players and sports enthusiasts have wanted for a long time, and we’re excited to say Resorts World New York now has mobile sports betting,” DeSalvio said.

“From our experience in having a sportsbook in both our Catskills and Las Vegas properties, we were able to take feedback from our players and deliver what New Yorkers really want in a mobile sports betting app.

“By partnering with an innovative product and technology focused company in PointsBet as our platform provider, we believe Resorts WorldBET will only add to our success.”

The Chief Marketing Officer at Genting Americas East, Darlene Monzo, added: “For us, it’s all about providing a complete world-class gaming experience and delivering the latest technology to our guests and loyal customers.

“Our players trust us, and we’re excited to provide a safe way for them to place their favorite sports bets through the Resorts WorldBET app, which they can do from the comfort of their couch, or the big screen environment of Bar 360 in Queens, or Sportsbook 360 at Resorts World Catskills.”

The app is available for download from both the Play Store and the App Store, and players can use it to place wagers from any location in the Empire State. However, one must be at least 21 years old to place a bet.

Eight NY mobile betting apps live, one more to go

The launch of Resorts WorldBET leaves just one operator on the sidelines.

The Genting Group-owned Resorts World New York was one of nine entities approved to launch digital sportsbooks in New York by the state regulator in November, and it is the eighth licensee to go live in the state since the market went live on January 8. The other brands accepting mobile bets in the jurisdiction are FanDuel, DraftKings, Caesars, BetMGM, BetRivers, PointsBet, and WynnBET.

With Resorts WorldBET now live, Bally Bet is the only authorized sportsbook that is yet to receive the green light to launch from the New York State Gaming Commission. However, the brand will not launch until April, according to Bally’s Chairman Soo Kim.

The chairman revealed that the company was delaying its entry into New York due to long-term plans.
