The fireworks are expected to continue in IPL 2025 as Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) welcomes the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for Match 7 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Friday, March 28 (AEDT). After a ruthless start to the season, the hosts look red-hot favourites, while LSG will be eager to bounce back from a heartbreaking last-ball defeat.
SRH couldn’t have asked for a better start. Their opening game was an all-out assault — they smashed 286/6 against Rajasthan Royals, the second-highest total in IPL history.
Ishan Kishan was the star of the show with a blazing 106 not out off 47 balls, supported brilliantly by Travis Head and Heinrich Klaasen.
With a power-packed top order of Head, Abhishek Sharma, Kishan, and Klaasen, SRH look almost unstoppable on their home turf. Their bowling isn’t too shabby either, with Mohammed Shami, Harshal Patel, Patrick Cummins, and Adam Zampa giving them solid control through the innings.
LSG’s tournament started with promise — and ended in agony. They scored 209 batting first against Delhi Capitals, thanks to half-centuries from Mitchell Marsh and Nicholas Pooran, but failed to seal the win after a lower-order collapse with the ball.
There’s a silver lining for Lucknow: Avesh Khan is fit and expected to return. That gives their depleted bowling attack a much-needed boost, but it’s still an area where they look vulnerable. Against SRH’s in-form batters, it might not be enough.
LSG do have a few big names — Pooran, Marsh, Rishabh Pant, and Aiden Markram — but their lack of bowling depth and inexperience in key moments could cost them once again.
SRH are in devastating form, especially with the bat, and their home record looks set to improve again. Against an LSG side still finding their rhythm and missing key bowlers, this looks like a mismatch on paper. The Sunrisers should take this one comfortably and the -188.68 with cricket betting sites reflect that.
Ishan Kishan opened his account for the season in style with a century against Rajasthan and looks right at home on the Hyderabad track. He plays fearless cricket in the powerplay, and with the pitch offering little for bowlers, he’s great value at +275 with Nags.bet to top the SRH scoring charts again.
Mitchell Marsh looked in superb touch in LSG’s opener, belting 72 from 36 balls. He’ll be key again if Lucknow are to post a competitive total or chase something big. On another batting-friendly wicket, he’s well worth backing to pass 30 at even-money odds with leading sportsbooks.
