Sunday’s NFL betting preview and top picks – September 24, 2023

NFL Week 3 - Sunday, 24.9.23

Week three of the NFL season is upon us, and we are starting to get a clear picture of what to expect in the coming weeks. This Sunday (September 24), there will be 13 games played, and we have picks for many of those matchups.

Baltimore Ravens vs Indianapolis Colts preview

Anthony Richardson is the rookie quarterback for the Indianapolis Colts, and he has shown the potential that made him the fourth overall pick. While he is questionable to play this game, if he suits up, he will showcase his rushing ability. Richardson has 75 rushing yards and three touchdowns on the ground already this season, and he is not scared to do it himself. These sportsbook odds are far too low considering the Colts’ tendency to turn to Richardson around the goal line.

Denver Broncos vs Miami Dolphins preview

Denver are not playing like a very good team, but they have been able to keep games close. They are 0-2 but have a point differential of -3 and have been very competitive in each contest. Miami, while they look great offensively, have struggled defensively, and that looks like it will be an issue all season long. We expect the Denver defense to do enough to limit Miami’s offensive talent and score enough to stay in this game. Take the Broncos and the points.

New England Patriots vs New York Jets preview

Garrett Wilson is establishing himself as one of the best wide receivers in the NFL. The second-year man has two touchdowns in two games and is doing his best to make QB Zach Wilson look competent. While Zach Wilson is not a very good passer, he knows that if he can get it to Garrett, good things will happen. We expect that to be the Jets’ game plan. The Patriots have a solid defense but will have a rookie cornerback covering Wilson for most of the game. At +225, this is a great value bet with Bovada.

Cleveland Browns vs Tennessee Titans preview

It’s been a tale of two games for the Browns, who looked dominant in week one and really bad in week two. We expect them to fall somewhere in the middle and will count on a bounce-back game. While the Titans have a great rush defense, they cannot stop anyone through the air, and QB Deshaun Watson should have a huge day for Cleveland. Although he has struggled, this is a great spot for him to look good and earn his $50 million per year contract.

Atlanta Falcons vs Detroit Lions preview

After scoring a touchdown in his NFL debut, star rookie running back Bijan Robinson could not reach the end zone in week two. He just put up over 160 total yards instead. Bijan is already among the top three running backs in the NFL, and this Lions defense cannot stop anyone. We expect Robinson to get a ton of work, as he has through two games, and continue flashing the potential that made him a top-10 pick last April. Take him to score every week until his number gets significantly shorter.

Arizona Cardinals vs Dallas Cowboys preview

The Cowboys look like one of the best teams in the NFL, while the Cardinals look like a scrappy team that will struggle to win games. That being said, we are taking the Cards to cover. This is far too many points to give a team at home, and while Arizona isn’t very talented, they have been in two close games to open the season. Clearly, new head coach Jonathan Gannon is getting the most out of his team, and we expect them to stay in this game, even if Dallas looks like Super Bowl contenders.

Las Vegas Raiders vs Pittsburgh Steelers preview

With the absence of Diontae Johnson, Steelers pass-catcher George Pickens will have to step up, and he is definitively capable. We saw that last week when Pickens took a 65-yard catch to the endzone on Monday Night Football. While this Sunday Night Football feature isn’t very interesting on paper, we think there could be a lot of points due to poor defenses. And if that plays out, Pickens will be very active in the receiving game for Pittsburgh. Take him to score at +240 as he continues to ascend into the elite tier of NFL receivers.
