English Premier League kicks off Saturday

The time has finally arrived for the 2020/21 English Premier League season to start. It’s one of the most watched and anticipated sporting events in the world, so what’s in store for us this time around?

Will Liverpool reign champions again, or will their crown be snatched away? As the clubs stand at the moment, Liverpool and Manchester City are the clear favorites. However, the transfer window is still open, and anything can happen to affect the current standings.

Chelsea have spent heavily to sign some notable names, such as Thiago Silva, Timo Werner, Kai Havertz, and Ben Chilwell. The addition of these stellar players could swing them into a top position. Manchester United also have a solid squad, but have they improved on the mentality issues that crippled them last season?

Vettel signs for Racing Point F1 team

Sebastian Vettel will be racing for Aston Martin in 2021. The four-time world champion will replace Sergio Perez, whose departure was announced on Wednesday. It’s still unclear how long the new contract will be, but it’s rumored as a multi-year deal.

Vettel said the move was inspired by the commitment and energy that Lawrence Stroll, the F1 team’s owner, has for the sport and industry. Otmar Szafnauer, CEO and Team Principal, said that everyone is excited about the German superstar joining, as he has the winning mentality to match the team’s ambitions.

In Vettel’s own words, “the future looks even brighter” for himself and the Racing Point F1 squad.

South America

Betcris lands NFL partnership

For the first time, the NFL have announced a Latin American company as an official partner. The chosen company, Betcris, will be allowed to use the National Football League logo for advertising NFL betting markets available to gamblers.

It also ensures that Betcris will receive exposure through the NFL social media channels, website, and fantasy football app.

Christopher Halpin, an NFL executive, said that it’s essential for them to extend into the Latin and South American markets as their fanbase expands through the region.

Australia

India cricket tour likely to take place in Adelaide

The West Australian government have made it crystal clear that they’re not willing to relax COVID-19 quarantine restrictions for anyone, not even international sports teams. The decision rules Perth out as a venue for the Indian cricket team’s tour of Australia.

Cricket Australia are set to release a schedule for the series, and it seems likely that Adelaide will be the preferred location for quarantine and training before matches commence.

The Adelaide Oval also has a new hotel which has two wings, making it an ideal spot for both teams.

New Zealand

New Zealand to face England at Wembley

England will host the New Zealand football team in a friendly on November 12. It’ll be the third time the two countries face each other, but the first time in almost two decades.

As of now, spectators won’t be permitted into Wembley Stadium; however, the Football Association are working with the local government on a plan to allow fans back in.
