Caesars pens multi-year betting deal with New York Mets

New York Mets gambling news

America’s largest gaming company, Caesars Entertainment Inc, announced on Wednesday that it had secured a multi-year partnership agreement with the New York Mets. The new deal makes the company’s market-leading Caesars Sportsbook an official sports betting partner of the Major League Baseball team.

The terms of the agreement grant Caesars the right to use official Mets logos and marks in its marketing campaigns. The sportsbook will also have access to TV-visible in-game signage as well as marketing opportunities across Mets properties.

The deal also includes plans to build a state-of-the-art Caesars-branded sportsbook lounge at Citi Field, the home of the Mets.

Announcing the partnership, Caesars Digital Co-President Chris Holdren said: “New York is a key state for us following the successful launch of our Caesars Sportsbook app in January. The Mets’ fanbase is one of the most loyal in baseball and this partnership offers us the chance to treat those passionate fans like Caesars. We look forward to opening our space at Citi Field during an exciting time for the franchise.”

When will the Caesars sportsbook at Citi Field open?

New York Mets fans can look forward to enjoying Caesars’ unparalleled sports betting experience at the new sportsbook lounge before the end of the 2022 MLB season. The regular season kicked off on April 7 and it is scheduled to run until October 5.

The 13,000 square foot lounge will be known as Caesars Sportsbook at the Metro Grille. The venue will be located inside the Metropolitan Grille, an upscale restaurant on the Excelsior Level of the stadium. The restaurant offers seating for 350 people, a multi-tiered dining room, and outdoor patio seating with panoramic views of the left field.

Patrons visiting the venue will be able to enjoy Caesars’ premium sportsbook experience together as they place bets via their mobile devices. However, the book will not feature live teller windows or self-service wagering terminals since New York’s gambling law does not allow in-person betting outside of the state’s four commercial casinos and tribal gaming facilities.

Caesars becomes second NY mobile sportsbook to clear $1b handle

Caesars Sportsbook continued to show strong performance in the bourgeoning New York mobile betting in March, according to the latest report released by the state’s Gaming Commission. The operator posted $19.7 million in gross wins for the month after handling $256.4 million in bets.

Caesars launched operations in the Empire State on January 8 alongside FanDuel, DraftKings, and BetRivers.

As of March 27, the licensee has taken in $1.2 billion in bets from New Yorkers, making it the second online operator to clear the $1 billion overall handle mark. FanDuel is the current market leader in terms of betting handle with $1.7 billion in wagers.

When it comes to gross wins, the taxable revenue generated by Caesars Sportsbook as of March 27 is $98.4 million. The figure is also the second-highest in the state after FanDuel’s $110 million.

The only other operator with more than $1 billion in total wagers is DraftKings, which has reported $1.1 billion in overall handle and $79.1 million in gross revenue since launching in the state.
