Ishan Kishan hit a stunning century as Sunrisers Hyderabad posted a massive total of 286 in their IPL 2025 win over Rajasthan Royals on Sunday.
Sunrisers Hyderabad came within one run of the highest-ever total in IPL history as they beat Rajasthan Royals by 44 runs in Telangana on Sunday.
Each of SRH’s top five batsmen made healthy contributions at strike rates of 200 or more, with Ishan Kishan’s 106 not out from 47 balls stealing the headlines.
Travis Head was an excellent supporting act, plundering 67 from 31 and getting the score to 130/1 before falling in the 10th over.
Abhishek Sharma (24 from 11), Nitish Kumar Reddy (30 from 15) and Heinrich Klaasen (34 from 14) joined the party as well.
If it was not for two wickets in the final over, Sunrisers would likely have surpassed the record total of 287 which they set last season.
Instead, they finished on 286/6, enough to set them as huge favourites in live cricket betting odds at the halfway point of the match.
Rajasthan made a valiant attempt at chasing down the total, falling 44 runs short at 242/6 from their 20 overs.
Wickets flowed early with Yashasvi Jaiswal (1 from 5), Riyan Parag (4 from 2) and Nitesh Rana (11 from 8) all getting caught in pursuit of quick runs.
Opener Sanju Samson (66 from 37) and wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel (70 from 35) then combined for a 111-run partnership that will have given SRH fans cause for concern, taking their side to 161/3 off just 13.5 overs.
Harshal Patel cracked the stand, however, snaffling Samson before Jurel fell two balls later.
While Shimron Hetmyer (42 from 23) and Shubham Dubey (34 from 11) came in and batted well, hitting back-to-back 22-run overs, they could never recover the lost ground that came from two tight overs in the 15th and 16th.
“Unbelievable,” SRH captain Pat Cummins said after the match.
“We get 280-odd, and it’s scary.
“You know you’re going to go for runs. You know it’s going to be tough.
“When you have such a big score, one over can win it for your side.
“Ishan today was incredible.
“The preparation has been amazing. Our coaches have been fantastic. Everyone has come fit and firing.”
SRH’s odds to win the 2025 IPL title have shortened dramatically at T20 betting sites off the back of the victory, jumping from +450 to +333 favouritism.
Chennai Super Kings, who defeated Mumbai Indians on Sunday, hold the second line of outright betting at +400 with Nags.bet.
