The 2025 Formula 1 season heads to the Styrian hills for the Austrian Grand Prix at the Red Bull Ring — a fast, flowing circuit that always delivers thrilling racing.
The circuit’s short lap, dramatic elevation changes and punishing track limits make it one of the most challenging venues of the season. Final practice is at 12pm CEST on Saturday, June 28, before qualifying at 4pm. The grand prix itself is set for 3pm on Sunday, June 29.
Max Verstappen will be eager to deliver in Red Bull’s home race, where he’s enjoyed plenty of success in recent years. But McLaren’s Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri remain the form drivers, with Mercedes’ George Russell and Kimi Antonelli not far behind. Ferrari will hope upgrades can bring them back into the fight at the front.
Last year we were treated to a memorable fight between Verstappen and Norris that ultimately led to Russell snatching victory. Will this year show more action like that? Or will it be another McLaren-dominated race?
On form, McLaren look poised to dominate again — both Norris and Piastri have had the upper hand on outright race pace in recent rounds. But with Red Bull bringing upgrades and Mercedes showing real improvement, there’s every chance we’ll see a multi-team scrap rather than a one-sided affair.
Piastri holds favouritism for the 2025 Austrian Grand Prix, with Norris and Verstappen close behind. Mercedes and Ferrari contenders are longer in the market heading to the Red Bull Ring.

The form of Oscar Piastri has been outstanding, and the Red Bull Ring’s fast, flowing nature plays perfectly to McLaren’s strengths. The Aussie’s clean, precise driving style could see him claim another win if he nails qualifying again. He will be eager to extend his lead in the Drivers’ Championship after Norris’ accident in Canada and firmly position himself for the title.
Charles Leclerc has always looked comfortable around the Red Bull Ring, with its combination of high-speed straights and heavy braking zones suiting his aggressive yet precise style. If Ferrari’s upgrades finally deliver the gains they’ve been chasing, Leclerc could very well slot himself into podium contention and lift spirits of the tifosi after a couple of tough rounds.
This could be the sneaky find of the round, with Isack Hadjar at +100 with leading sportsbooks for a points finish after a subpar performance in Canada. He’s been incredibly consistent this year, so take the double-up and run.
