Round nine of the 2025 Formula 1 World Championship lands in Barcelona, where <strong>Oscar Piastri has claimed pole position for the Spanish Grand Prix.
In another dominant qualifying from McLaren, Lando Norris joins his teammate on the front row, giving the papaya squad a 1-2 start heading into Sunday’s race at 11am EST.
Oscar Piastri continued his blistering 2025 campaign by producing another superb lap in Q3, securing his fourth pole of the season. The Aussie’s pace never wavered across qualifying, and McLaren’s setup looked dialled in from the first session.
Lando Norris wasn’t far off, finishing just two-tenths behind in P2. It’s the second time this season McLaren have locked out the front row — and with team strategy likely to play a key role, they’ll be hoping to avoid any intra-team chaos.
Max Verstappen will start from third after a scrappy Q3 effort, but Red Bull’s long-run pace suggests he’s still a threat on Sunday. However, he’ll need to be bold early if he’s to leapfrog both McLarens on a circuit where track position is crucial.
George Russell starts from P4 for the second straight year at Barcelona and is paying a whopping with top sportsbooks. With Mercedes steadily improving, and Russell’s excellent launch history here, he could be a dark horse for the podium.
