Brady, Ulberg & Wood star in record-breaking UFC London

Sean Brady produced the biggest win of his career at UFC Fight Night in London, submitting former welterweight champion Leon Edwards in the fourth round to launch himself into the title conversation.

Stepping in on short notice after Jack Della Maddalena was withdrawn from the card, Brady (18-1) seized the opportunity in spectacular fashion, overwhelming Edwards with relentless pressure, takedowns, and dominant top control before sinking in a guillotine choke at 1:39 of Round 4.

The victory silenced the packed O2 Arena and extended Brady’s win streak to three, justifying his status as the -161.29 favorite with top UFC betting sites.

“I know I can do that against anybody in the division,” Brady said in his post-fight interview.

“I think I belong in the top 3 for sure.”

With the welterweight title on the line in May between Belal Muhammad and Della Maddalena, Brady now finds himself firmly in the mix for a future title shot.

Shavkat Rakhmonov remains another major contender waiting in the wings.

The night also saw an emotional farewell from Liverpool’s Molly McCann, who announced her retirement after a first-round submission loss to UFC newcomer Alexia Thainara.

The Brazilian took the fight on short notice and quickly secured a rear-naked choke following dominant groundwork.

McCann laid her gloves in the centre of the Octagon, stating, “The UFC deserves more. I deserve more. You all deserve more,” as long-time teammate Paddy Pimblett looked on with tears in his eyes.

In the co-main event, the sportsbook favorite Carlos Ulberg continued his surge up the light heavyweight ranks with a unanimous decision win over former champion Jan Blachowicz.

The New Zealander picked apart Blachowicz with calculated precision, notching his eighth consecutive win and immediately calling out reigning champ Magomed Ankalaev.

“I beat him [Blachowicz] more convincingly than Ankalaev or Pereira. I’m ready,” Ulberg declared.

Ankalaev, however, responded by saying Alex Pereira was next in line for the title.

Elsewhere on the main card, Kevin Holland edged Gunnar Nelson in a tight three-round contest, while Chris Duncan earned a second-round submission victory over Jordan Vucenic.

Nathaniel Wood impressed the London crowd with a clean sweep of Morgan Charrière on all three judges’ scorecards.

Despite a relatively modest build-up, UFC London broke the all-time Fight Night gate record, attracting a sold-out crowd of 18,582 and generating more than $4.7 million in revenue.
