Wolfsburg vs SC Freiberg

It has been a tale of two seasons for Wolfsburg (4-1-3) through the first eight matchweeks of the 2021-22 season. Wolfsburg opened the season with a perfect 4-0-0 record, highlighted by a 1-0 win over RB Leipzig. But the club is winless in its last four matches since then, playing to a draw against Eintracht Frankfurt and then losing each of its last three matches. SC Freiberg (4-4-0) is still undefeated this season with four wins and four draws.

There should definitely be some value on the UNDER 2.5 goals in this match; both teams play a defensive style that should produce a low-scoring game more often than not. But we think there’s even more value on just taking a shot on SC Freiberg outright. Wolfsburg is playing some really bad soccer with three straight losses all by two goal margins. A team as consistent as Freiberg should be very live as a road underdog this Saturday.

Bayern Munich vs Hoffenheim

In what was supposed to be a competitive game between two of Bundesliga’s best teams, Bayern Munich (6-1-1) rolled to an easy 5-1 victory over Bayer Leverkusen last Sunday as Robert Lewandowski and Serge Gnabry both scored a pair of goals in the first half. Bayern followed that performance up with a 4-0 win over Benfica in UEFA Champions League play on Wednesday. Hoffenheim (3-2-3) is also coming into this game off of a blowout win after defeating Koln 5-0 last Friday.

The last three matches in this head-to-head series have gone 4-1 Bayern, 4-1 Bayern, and 6-0 Bayern. When Bayern Munich gets on a roll like the one they are on this week, not many teams in the world can do much about it, and Hoffenheim isn’t one of those rare teams that can. With no money to be made paying a huge price on the moneyline, we’re willing to take a shot on the spread and lay the 2.5 goals against the spread.

FC Koln vs Bayer Leverkusen

Prior to Friday’s blowout loss to Hoffenheim, FC Koln (3-3-2) had earned at least a point in each of its last five matches with a 1-3-1 record and its only loss of the season had come in a competitive 3-2 match against Bayern Munich. Similarly, Bayer Leverkusen (5-1-2) hasn’t had another game as bad as last weekend’s 5-1 loss to Bayern Munich, going 5-1-1 in its previous seven matches with the one loss coming in a close 4-3 game vs. Borussia Dortmund. So which team will bounce back with a win this Sunday?

We think it’s going to be Leverkusen. Expect both clubs to come out highly motivated to play their best after disappointing performances last week. With motivational issues not being a factor, the superior club should win; Leverkusen’s clear edge on offense should eventually lead to the breakthrough goal and a road victory.
