The Norwegian looks a live chance at Roland Garros after his win over Jack Draper in Spain.
Tennis bookmakers have shortened Casper Ruud’s odds to win the 2025 French Open after the Norwegian beat world No.5 Jack Draper to claim his maiden Masters 1000 title in Madrid on Sunday.
Ruud came into the Madrid Open final as a moderate underdog, with Nags.bet pricing the 14th seed at +175 to win.
However, the 26-year-old swung live betting odds in his favor when he won four games in a row to edge out a tight opening set 7-5.
Draper quickly hit back by winning the second set 6-3, but it was Ruud who held his nerve and closed out the match 6-4 in the decider to bag the title.
“It feels great, of course. It’s been a long time coming,” said Ruud, who was 0-2 in Masters finals prior to Madrid.
“This was one of the really big goals I dreamed about when I was young, so it’s an incredible feeling to accomplish it.
“Also the way I did it today, it was a great match.
“I knew Jack had been playing unbelievable all year, and especially in this tournament, so I knew that if I didn’t bring my A-plus game, I was going to be whooped around the court.
“Jack has become such an incredible player, on any surface now.
“He’s won titles on every surface except clay, and he’s already made finals here in Madrid. So it’s an incredible year he is having.
“Luckily, I played really well. This is a really big boost for me, and I would like to keep it going.”
Ruud now sits on the fifth line of betting heading into the French Open later this month, returning +1200 to win his first-ever Grand Slam title.
Carlos Alcaraz (+120), Jannik Sinner (+250), Novak Djokovic (+700) and Alexander Zverev (+750) sit ahead of Ruud in the market, while Draper is one line back on +1600.
