English Premier League 2025/26 season preview & outright bets

Check out BettingPlanet’s 2025/26 EPL season preview, including a title-race outlook, top goalscorer pick and value bets for top-six finish and relegation.

The 2025/26 English Premier League season launches on Friday, August 15, and the table already feels split into three tiers.

With soccer betting sites having multiple markets open for the upcoming season, Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City are touted as the only title contenders. Meanwhile, Chelsea, Brighton and an invigorated Tottenham lurk as ambushers, with everyone else fighting to stay relevant. One long, chaotic summer means we’re bound to see a few early-season shocks.

Liverpool claimed the 2024/25 trophy by 10 points, lost only four games, and then spent big on ex-Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz. At +175 the Reds are the shortest preseason favorites in five years — yet the market still gives Arsenal (+225) hope after signing Viktor Gyökeres from Sporting FC, while a rebooting City sit at +333.

Chelsea’s Club World Cup demolition of PSG forced their outright quote into +900, but Brighton’s quiet, data-driven rebuild is the talk of the analytics crowd. Down the ladder, newly promoted Sunderland headline a relegation race that also ropes in Leeds, Burnley, Wolves and Brentford.

EPL 2025/26 outright betting tips

Outright winner – Liverpool

In what will be Arne Slot’s second season in charge, the Liverpool manager has kept veteran stars Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk. He’s also added Wirtz and depth in the fullback position with the signing of Jeremie Frimpong. Manchester City’s transition and Arsenal’s near-miss hangover strengthen the Reds’ chances of going back-to-back.

Top goalscorer – Erling Haaland

A “quiet” 22-goal year owed more to niggling injuries than decline for Erling Haaland during the 2024/25 EPL season. With Salah expected to play as more of a distributor than a scorer for the Reds, and with Rodri returning from his ACL injury, +120 with online sportsbooks for the Norwegian to regain the Golden Boot is a fair price.

Top-six finish – Brighton

With no European fixtures for Brighton, three defensive upgrades in Maxim De Cuyper, Diego Coppola and Olivier Boscagli, and Fabian Hürzeler’s high-press system, a rise up the table is on the cards. The Seagulls were only five points off sixth last season despite a long-running injury crisis.

To be relegated – Brentford

Following the departures of Thomas Frank, who left to take over as manager of Tottenham, and top scorer Bryan Mbeumo, who made a high-profile transfer to Manchester United, Brentford have been dealt a brutal hand ahead of the 2025/26 EPL campaign. Soccer betting sites are offering +300 for the Bees to finish in the bottom three, and that is a solid bet.
