EPL betting preview & tips

The 2025/26 English Premier League season continues this weekend, with West Ham United and Chelsea set to kick off Matchweek 2 on Friday night at London Stadium. With some of the big teams dropping points and others producing underwhelming performances in Matchweek 1, there are plenty of headline games scheduled.

West Ham United vs Chelsea

Friday, August 22 – 8pm BST – London Stadium

West Ham United will host their first home game of the new season after a dismal showing against Sunderland, where they were thrashed 3-0 by one of the newly promoted sides. Chelsea weren’t much happier with their goalless draw against Crystal Palace. Cole Palmer was quiet last time out, but that’s likely to change this weekend.

Manchester City vs Tottenham Hotspur

Saturday, August 23 – 12:30pm BST – Etihad Stadium

Arguably the two standout performers from Matchweek 1, Manchester City and Tottenham meet in Saturday’s early kickoff after posting 3-0 and 4-0 victories in their respective openers. Both sides favor an attacking style, so expect plenty of goal-scoring chances at both ends.

AFC Bournemouth vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

Saturday, August 23 – 3pm BST – Vitality Stadium

Despite losing some high-end talent over the offseason, Bournemouth impressed in their opening-night clash with Liverpool. Wolverhampton, meanwhile, showed they still lack the quality to compete with the league’s elite, suffering a 4-0 hammering at the hands of Manchester City. Antoine Semenyo bagged a brace last Friday, and he looks likely to be involved in at least one goal again this weekend.

Brentford vs Aston Villa

Saturday, August 23 – 3pm BST – Gtech Community Stadium

Brentford were among those that failed to impress in Matchweek 1, laboring against Nottingham Forest. Aston Villa, meanwhile, had to settle for a goalless draw after Ezri Konsa’s second-half red card. With more talent and upside in this matchup, Villa should bounce back strongly.

Burnley vs Sunderland

Saturday, August 23 – 3pm BST – Turf Moor

Newly promoted Burnley and Sunderland found themselves on opposite ends of 3-0 scorelines in the opening week, with the Black Cats proving they won’t be underestimated this season. However, the history between these two suggests goals will be scarce — their last three meetings have produced just one goal combined. The under looks like the smart play here.

Arsenal vs Leeds United

Saturday, August 23 – 5:30pm BST – Emirates Stadium

Arsenal and Leeds United scraped through their openers with 1-0 wins over Manchester United and Everton, respectively. While each side will take confidence from those results, Arsenal’s superior quality across the pitch should see them dominate Leeds throughout this contest.

Crystal Palace vs Nottingham Forest

Sunday, August 24 – 2pm BST – Selhurst Park

Nottingham Forest were clinical in their 3-0 demolition of Brentford last Sunday, while Crystal Palace struggled to create quality chances in their scoreless draw with Chelsea. With Eberechi Eze now on his way to Arsenal, Palace face a major hole in midfield — making Forest great value at +220 with top soccer betting sites.

Everton vs Brighton & Hove Albion

Sunday, August 24 – 2pm BST – Hill Dickinson Stadium

Everton were unfortunate to fall 1-0 to Leeds after conceding a controversial penalty, while Brighton & Hove Albion were also left frustrated, giving up a late equalizer in a 1-1 draw with Fulham. Brighton look the stronger side in this matchup and should prove it with an away win.

Fulham vs Manchester United

Sunday, August 24 – 4:30pm BST – Craven Cottage

Fulham and Manchester United meet for the 37th time in the Premier League, with the Red Devils still searching for their first point of the 2025/26 campaign after falling to Arsenal. Fulham salvaged a draw in the dying moments against Brighton, giving them confidence heading into this clash. Both sides showed defensive vulnerabilities last week, so goals should be on the cards.

Newcastle vs Liverpool

Monday, August 25 – 8pm BST – St James Park

Liverpool survived an early scare against Bournemouth on opening night before pulling away to claim a 4-2 victory. Newcastle, meanwhile, were held to a goalless draw at Aston Villa. Recent meetings between these two have been goal-heavy, producing 17 goals across the last four clashes, with both sides scoring in three of them.
