After four games this Tuesday, Premier League fans will be treated to five games this Wednesday and one game on Thursday. There are no matchups between title contenders, but in the midst of a congested fixture list, we could be in for a few surprises. Here are our best bets for the Wednesday and Thursday games.
Arsenal vs Aston Villa
These are two teams on opposite trajectories. Aston Villa was a trendy pick to finish in the top half this season, but they have struggled out of the gate. Villa have some bad losses to inferior teams like Bournemouth and Crystal Palace. For a team that had top-eight aspirations, those losses are brutal hits and it will be hard for them to make up that ground. Arsenal will be their toughest test yet in this season, and considering how Villa have played, it might get ugly.
Right now, Arsenal are alone at the top of the table. They have taken all 12 points from their first four games and look to be much improved on previous seasons. Their new signings like Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko are paying dividends and they have raised the profile of this Arsenal team. In a home game against Villa, those players should dominate and Arsenal should come away with an easy win. Take the Gunners to cover in this fixture, as they shouldn’t struggle too much against a Villa team in need of reinforcements.
Arsenal -1.25
Manchester City vs Nottingham Forest
Manchester City have the best offense in the Premier League and already have 13 goals through their first four games. On their best day, the reigning champions are truly are unstoppable. Nottingham Forest have been surprisingly gritty, but they have no chance against City. Pep Guardiola’s men could score five or more goals in this fixture, and it is almost guaranteed Kevin De Bruyne will be a part of that dominance. De Bruyne is still one of the best players in the Premier League and he has been fed chances in every game up to this point. In a game where City should score a lot, De Bruyne to score at +105 with Bovada is great value.

West Ham United vs Tottenham Hotspur
This is likely the matchup of the midweek slate. West Ham have struggled in this young Premier League season, but they were able to bag their first win of the year last weekend against Aston Villa. Having made a lot of changes during the summer transfer window, the Hammers faltered out of the gate and the team was not meshing. That could still be a problem, but their win against Villa alleviated some of those concerns. That being said, Tottenham are a few steps above Villa and it will be hard for West Ham to come away with a result in this game.
Tottenham have been very impressive to start the season. They have 10 points through four games and sit in third place. Harry Kane is still playing like one of the best strikers in the world, and while Son Heung-min has struggled, Spurs have enough depth to cover for him. Antonio Conte’s squad is drastically improved on previous seasons and his transfers have paid off to this point. West Ham’s strength is their defense and Tottenham’s best attribute is their attacking prowess. In this fixture, we are going with offense.
Tottenham Hotspur to win
Manchester United vs Leicester City
These are two teams that have a lot of talent on offense but have defensive issues. Leicester City have had a miserable start to the season and their coach, Brendan Rodgers, is definitively on the hot seat. Leicester have been able to score but cannot play any defense, and that seems like it will be a pattern that carries on all season. The same can be said for United, who seem to be lacking defensively as well. In this game, there should be ample goalscoring opportunities for both teams. Take the over and watch as two porous defenses struggle to contain a high-quality offense.
