The English Premier League will return this weekend after suspending play last weekend following the passing of Queen Elizabeth. There is a lighter slate this weekend than usual because three games will be postponed due to a lack of police availability. However, we still have seven games to enjoy and considering we are entering the meat of the season, there is a lot of intrigue for these contests. It’s going to be an entertaining matchweek and we have some picks for the games.
Nottingham Forest vs Fulham
Mitrovic has been a revelation this season as the striker for Fulham. The Serbian international has six goals through six games and he has been clinical in front of net. Mitrovic has been vital to Fulham’s success this season and he is making a name for himself. Fulham are off to surprising start to the season and they sit in 10th place. They have proven they are capable offensively and their plan flows through Mitrovic. Nottingham Forest have conceded 14 goals through their first six games, so Fulham should be able to score. When Fulham score, there’s a good chance Mitrovic is the scorer and because of that, we are backing Mitrovic as an anytime goalscorer in this contest.
Aleksandar Mitrovic Anytime Goalscorer
Wolves vs Manchester City
Wolves are off to a pretty mediocre start in the Premier League. They have four points through six matches and have struggled to score. Their defense, however, have only conceded four goals through those games and at home, we expect that to keep up. Manchester City will be a test for Wolves unlike any of their previous matches but the Wolves have been traditionally solid at home. It won’t be easy but we like the Wolves to cover in this contest.
Manchester City are the title favorites with the top betting sites and it’s well deserved. They have looked borderline unstoppable this season and they have the best attack in the league. It’s risky counting on Wolves to contain the City attack but at home, we expect them to do so. Wolves don’t have to win this game, they just have to lose by less than two. Wolves are good enough to do that and there is value in backing the home team here.
Wolves +1.5
Tottenham vs Leicester City
This game should be fun. Tottenham have had a great start to the season and sit in third place with 14 points. They have leaned on their attack led by Harry Kane, Heung Min Son and Richarlison. In turn, they have been a dangerous team. Against Leicester, this Tottenham attack could hit the over by themselves. That’s because Leicester have been a mess defensively and have already conceded 18 goals in their six games. Leicester had promise coming into this season and it has not played out how they thought. Despite having a pretty solid attack, their defense is letting them down and those factors make the over very appealing in this fixture. Simply put, both teams have a better offense than defense and the over should hit easily here.
Over 3 Goals
Brentford vs Arsenal
This will be the test of the season for Brentford. They have jumped out to a great start and sit in eighth place with nine points. Brentford have a bunch of crafty players that have lifted them to this level and they look like a solid squad. However, they aren’t on Arsenal’s level just yet. Even though Brentford will be home, Arsenal should take care of them and come away with three points.
For as good Brentford have been, Arsenal have been better. They are in the midst of a resurgent season where they sit in first place with 15 points. Arsenal are legitimate and the changes they made in the summer transfer window have all panned out to this point. The Gunners need to win tough games like these in order to mount a title challenge and that should be enough motivation for Mikel Arteta’s squad. They are simply more talented and while it wouldn’t shock anyone for the old Arsenal to drop points away at Brentford, this is the new-look team. They have played better than Arsenal squads of years past and they should handle Brentford in this contest. At -125, it’s a good value bet in what should be the game of the weekend.
