Germany vs. Sweden bookie bonuses & free 2018 World Cup tips
Germany will look to bounce back from its shock loss to Mexico when it plays Sweden in this crucial 2018 FIFA World Cup encounter at Fisht Stadium on Sunday night.
Bovada has Germany as a big favorite with posted odds of -240 with Sweden at +700 and a draw at +380. The Over/Under for this Group F match is 2.5 goals.
Germany was shocked in their opening match losing to Mexico 1-0. In the last 16 World Cup tournaments they have advanced to the knockout stage, so they need to win this match to keep that streak alive.
Sweden is tied with Mexico atop Group F with three points after beating South Korea in their opening match. They did not finish well having several chances and their attack has really struggled the last few matches. The lone goal in the South Korea match was on a penalty and that snapped their three-match scoreless streak. The Swedes have not scored an open time goal in a whopping 430 minutes. Hard to see them cracking the German defense.
Germany easily won the time of possession battle with Mexico 67% to 33% and they had 30 shots on goal. They were not prepared for the quick counter attack from Mexico and they have to defend that well in this match, as that will be Sweden’s best chance to score. The Swedes will have those chances since Germany will press the issue on the attack since they need the win and three points.

Sweden GK Robin Olsen and the squad’s defense must prepare to be barraged from the German attack. The Swedes are the team with the three points heading into this Group F match and they will probably play a very defensive match since a draw would suit them just fine.
The Swedes will not get many scoring chances and when they do strikers Ola Toivonen and Marcus Berg have to pounce on them.
Thomas Müller, who is playing on a yellow card, has to get it going for the German attack and the midfield duo of Toni Kroos and Mesut Özil will be more offensive minded and push forward on the attack. However, their defense of the counter will be key in this match and if they can nip those attacks in the bud they should easily win this match.
Germany has never been a team that has played well in friendlies and overall, they have only one win in their last seven matches. On top of that the win was over a less than stellar opponent in Saudi Arabia, who may be the weakest squad that is playing in Russia.
These teams have met 11 times all-time with the Germans winning seven and drawing four. The last time they met it was in group play in 2014 European World Cup qualifying with the Germans winning one match 5-3 and the other ending in a 4-4 draw.
Germany vs. Sweden betting predictions
Germany was shocked in their tournament opener, but do not look for a shocking result in this match.
They will pepper the Swedes the whole match and while Sweden may keep them at bay for a while, they cannot keep the German giant down.
Germany will win this match 2-0 and they will head to their last match facing South Korea in pretty good shape to advance to the knockout stage.
