IT’S week one of the NFL season and the Green Bay Packers, as they so often are, are the favourites for Super Bowl 51.
But not by much.
There’s a team in Green Bay that figures to have a big say in what will happen – just like the Patriots did when they lost to the Denver Broncos in the big dance last season.
The Packers are +600 favourites with Bovada.lv, just ahead of the Patriots, who are at +675.
The Patriots sport the best quarter back in the game in Aaron Rodgers and possess a very well balanced team that will be very hard to beat – they lost three receivers to season-ending injuries last campaign and still made the playoffs, such is the skill of their star QB.
And the Patriots have to survive three games with their own superstar in Tom Brady, who will be replaced by untried starter Jimmy Garoppolo.
Only Seattle is in single figures at +900, with a trio of teams at +1000 – the Pittsburgh Steelers, Carolina Panthers and Arizona Cardinals.
There’s not much to see after that, with last year’s Super Bowl winner, the Denver Broncos way out at +2000, joined by the Cincinnati Bengals, New York Giants and Kansas City Chiefs in a four way tie for the fifth line of betting.
Spare a thought for San Francisco 49ers fans and Cleveland Browns supporters – both their teams would need to make like Leicester City did in the English Premier League soccer last season to win the Super Bowl at the astronomical odds of +15000.
2017 NFL Super Bowl odds:
New England Patriots +675
Seattle Seahawks +900
Pittsburgh Steelers +1000

Can anyone stop the Warriors’ title juggernaut?
The NBA season is fast approaching and the Golden State Warriors are one of the shortest priced title favourites in history.
The Warriors, who won the 2015 chip and then lost the 2016 finals series in seven games to the Cleveland Cavaliers, added one of the best players on the planet to a roster sporting back to back NBA Most Valuable Player Stephen Curry and arguably the best shooting guard on the NBA, Klay Thompson.
It’s a formidable offensive arsenal, one some are saying could be the best ever.
But the Cavaliers and their King Lebron James will have something to say about the Warriors’ title favouritism.
They hold the Larry O’Brien Trophy and every other club will be hunting.
The Cavs are the +275 second favourites to go back to back and you can never rule it out, especially with Lebron capable of going into beast mode when it matters most.
The post Tim Duncan begins at the San Antonio Spurs, but the addition of talented big man Pau Gasol to join with the likes of LaMarcus Aldridge and Kawhi Leonard figures to soften the blow. But they are +120 third favourites, indicating this title is a race in two.
2017 NBA title odds:
Cleveland Cavaliers +275
San Antonio Spurs +1200
Boston Celtics +1800
Los Angeles Clippers +2000
Toronto Raptors +3300
Oklahoma City Thunder +3300
Chicago Bulls +3300
Indiana Pacers +6600
Minnesota Timberwolves +6600
Miami Heat +7500
Atlanta Hawks +7500
New York Knicks +6600
Houston Rockets +7500
Memphis Grizzlies +7500
New Orleans Pelicans +10000
Detroit Pistons +10000
Portland Trail Blazers +10000
Washington Wizards +10000
Milwaukee Bucks +10000
Utah Jazz +10000

Orlando Magic +20000
Denver Nuggets +30000
Sacramento Kings +30000
Philadelphia 76ers +30000
Phoenix Suns +50000
