The 2021 French Open Women’s Final pits world number 33 Barbora Krejcikova (-117.65) against the #31 seed Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova (-105.26) on Saturday afternoon.

Prior to the French Open getting underway you would have received odds close to 1000/1 of these two clashing in the Final at Roland Garros, with Saturday’s clash being the first time these two women have played.

Barbora Krejcikova made it through to her maiden Grand Slam Final when getting the better of #17 seed Maria Sakkari 7-5, 4-6, 9-7 in a semi-final for the ages between two young guns on the rise. The Czech managed to grind her rival down in the concluding stages of the third set to set up a spot in the 2021 French Open Final

Her more experienced rival Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova managed a straight sets victory over Tamara Zidansek 7-5 6-3 to make her way to a maiden Grand Slam Final. It will not be the Russian’s first final at Roland Garros, having made the Junior French Open final as a 15-year-old.

Krejcikova comes into the Final having won 13 of her past 14 matches, including the Final at Starsbourg prior to the French Open and in her run at Roland Garros she has drop just the two sets on the way to her maiden Grand Slam Final appearance.

Pavlyuchenkova has been just as impressive on the Parisian clay having dropped three sets on her way to the Final, but after such a dominant Semi-Final win over Zidansek she is surely the one to beat.

The way Pavlyuchenkova disposed of Tamara Zidansek in her semi-final suggests she is the one to beat in the 2021 French Open Women’s Final. The Russian has continually defied market odds during her run at Roland Garros and despite being the outsider here we expect Pavlyuchenkova to add her name on the honour roll at the French Open. After a “softer” semi-final we expect her to be too strong late in the match for Krejcikova, especially if the Final goes to three sets.
