The Kansspelautoriteit, Dutch gaming regulator continues its campaign against illegal online casinos as it issues Red Ridge Marketing a fine of €675,000 for advertising unlicensed online gambling websites. This is coming after the regulator had issued several warnings for it to stop such illegal activities.
In a public statement, the gambling authority found Red Ridge guilty of promoting websites containing “careless and misleading statements” about online casinos. Some of such statements include the advantages of illegal online casinos for young people, promise of unlimited betting, inaccurate remarks about the country’s Kruks self-exclusion register and many more.
Furthermore, the KSA stated that the illegal online casinos misled bettors into thinking they are safe to play by insinuating that they are licensed by a regulator.
Chair of the KSA Rene Jensen noted: “Promoters of illegal games of chance providers also receive our attention.
“They must also comply with the law, especially when it comes to protecting young adults. We will do everything we can to stop these practices.”
Jensen’s statement is made in reference to the slew of regulatory actions carried out by the KSA since the beginning of the year. It recently doled out a total of €26m in penalties to N1 Interactive (€12.64m), Videoslots (€9.87m), Betpoint Group (€1.78m), Probe Investments (€1.12m) and Fairload (€900,000) for various breaches of its regulations.
This is in line with its decision to have a firmer grip on the country’s revitalised gambling industry. Meanwhile, Red Ridge Marketing is yet to respond to either the KSA’s cease and desist order or the fine penalty.
