Ohio State vs. Penn State NCAA football picks & spread odds
Ohio State vs. Penn State – 7:30 PM EST, Saturday, September 29 at Beaver Stadium University Park, PA
Betting Line: Ohio State -3.5
Over/Under: 67.5 points at 888 Sportsbook
Ohio State, the fourth-ranked team in the nation, hits the road to face Penn State, the ninth-ranked team on Saturday in this huge betting bonanza NCAA football affair.
This game has very big BCS implications and each still faces a tough schedule ahead. The winner of this game will be in the driver’s seat for Big 10 title and for a BCS playoff berth.
Ohio State is the fourth racked team in the nation and Penn State is the ninth ranked team. Pretty obvious that the winner of this Big 10 game will stay in the top 10 while the loser will not.
The Buckeyes have not played a close game yet and they rank 2nd in the nation in points per game. However, they will be without their star defensive player in leader defensive end Nick Bosa and face a Penn State squad that has the highest scoring offense in college football and has scored 63 points in each of their last two games.
This season Ohio State is 4-0 SU with an ATS record of 3-1 and an O/U record of 2-2 and Penn State is also at 4-0 with an ATS record of 3-1 and an O/U record of 4-0.
The home team is 4-1 ATS in the last five games between these bitter conference rivals.
Ohio State narrowly beat Penn State at home last season 39-39 and in the last time they faced off at Penn State the Nittany Lions beat the Buckeyes 24-21 when OSU was the 2nd ranked team in the nation.
Penn State can light up the scoreboard and Trace McSorley (763 yards 8 touchdowns) and Miles Sanders in the backfield give the Lions a tough 1-2 punch. Sanders has rushed for nearly 500 yards in four games in Penn State’s last game he rushed for 200 yards in the 63-24 win over Illinois.
The Nittany Lions racked up the yards in the win over Illinois, but their defense had some problems, which is not good hosting OSU this Saturday. They gave up 245 yards on the ground and they have to shore up that run defense facing Ohio State, who have a balanced offense and one that ranks 27th in rushing yards per game.
The Buckeyes have not been tested this season, as they have blown out every opponent. They are strong on both sides of the ball and in their last game they beat Tulane 49-6. Heisman hopeful quarterback Dwayne Haskins did not play the whole game and still was a legit 21/24 for 304 yards with five touchdowns and no interceptions. Four OSU players have at least 200 receiving yards and the running back duo of J.K. Dobbins and Mike Weber have combined for 622 rushing yards as well as five touchdowns.

- 11-3-2 ATS in their last 16 home games

Ohio State vs. Penn State betting predictions
Ohio State is a great team that is great on both sides of the ball and while Penn State is good they are not great. The Nittany Lions’ defense was exposed some in their last game and they will be exposed more-so in this game facing an Ohio State offense that is balanced and can do it all.
Penn State is at home and they beat Ohio State the last time they played in their house, but the Buckeyes are the pick in this game. Even without their defensive leader in Bosa their offense will be too much for Penn State to handle and Ohio State will win and cover the spread in this HUGE Big 10 battle.
