The No.12 seed is through to the last eight after putting on a top-tier display on Tuesday.

Holger Rune beat Stefanos Tsitsipas at the Indian Wells Open in California on Tuesday in one of the best showings of the Dane’s career so far.

Heading into the pair’s fourth meeting as a +140 underdog at Nags.bet, the former world No.4 tennis player produced a mix of magic and discipline in rain-affected conditions to snap Tsitsipas’ seven-match winning streak.

The 6-4, 6-4 victory marks Rune’s ninth visit to the quarter-finals of an ATP Masters 1000 event and extends his head-to-head record over Tsitsipas to 4-0.

“It feels very good. I think it was an extremely good match from my side, from start to finish,” Rune said after the one-hour, 28-minute match.

“I stayed very committed to my gameplan.

“Mentally, I was very, very good. I think that’s what made the difference — how composed I was able to stay.

“Obviously Stef is back in shape, so yeah, it was a cool battle.”

Rune now faces a quarter-final clash with the in-form Tallon Griekspoor, who knocked out top seed Alexander Zverev earlier in the tournament.

“I’m excited, I’m looking forward to it,” Rune said of the upcoming match.

“Tallon is also really in shape right now, he’s been playing great.

“I saw the match against Zverev — he’s going for it. So that’s always a dangerous player to play against.

“But again, I’m going to focus on my stuff. I believe that focusing on myself is the best.

“Obviously we’re going to look into his game a little bit, but yeah, just looking forward to it, going to celebrate this win now.”

Tennis betting sites have the 12th seed marginally favoured to win the match and make the last four at Indian Wells for the first time.
