It marks a strong bounce-back after a series of scrappy qualifying sessions, putting the Red Bull driver in prime position to extend his title challenge.
Oscar Piastri will start second after another superb Saturday, underlining McLaren’s growing consistency this season. The Aussie has been Verstappen’s rival in the championship so far and will look to go wheel-to-wheel through Silverstone’s flowing first sector.
Lando Norris will start from third in front of a home crowd desperate to see a British winner. McLaren have looked quick all weekend, and Norris will have the home support roaring him on from lights out through to the chequered flag.
Lewis Hamilton appears to have suffered a Ferrari disaster-class this weekend, with his hopes of extending an 11-year podium streak at Silverstone fading before everyone’s eyes.
