South Korea vs. Mexico correct score odds & tips – World Cup betting
Mexico will aim to continue its brilliant 2018 FIFA World Cup when it takes on South Korea at Rostov Arena on Saturday night.
Bovada has Mexico as a pretty big betting favorite in this match posted at -145 with South Korea at +450 and a draw at +270. The Over/Under for this match is 2.5 goals.
Mexico pulled off the biggest upset of the tournament so far beating defending champion Germany 1-0 in their opening match. If they win this match they will advance to the knockout stage for the 7th straight World Cup.
South Korea lost their opening match to Sweden 1-0 and this is a must-win match for them. They had their chances in the 2nd half in the loss to Sweden, but did not do much around the box and they did not have one shot on target. Even a draw in this match will not help much considering they have to face group favorite Germany in their last group match.
These teams have met five times with each team winning once and there has been one draw.
South Korea was less than impressive on the attack in their opening match and they have not scored in their last three matches overall. They actually are winless in their last four matches where they have only totaled one goal.
Obviously, Mexico is on the upswing after their HUGE win over Germany in their World Cup opener and in their last five matches they are 2-2-1.

In the win over Germany, Mexico lost the time of possession battle 67% to 33%, but they were the team that had the most scoring chances. They did bag the win and the three points, but Miguel Layun and Chicharito Hernandez each missed some golden opportunities to tack on goals. Hirving Lozano scored the one goal and Mexico played a great match on defense and their counter-attack and speed gave Germany major problems.
In the loss to Sweden in their WC opener South Korea had the ball 44% of the time and they have to press the issue on the attack in this match since they desperately need the three points. Tottenham’s Son Heung-Min has to take the reigns as the best striker on the squad and lead the attack. They cannot hold back and wait for the counter. The midfield has big-time pressure on them both playing defense and pushing forward to aid the strikers up front.
Mexico will change their tactics in this match not having to face a world power like they did in Germany. Rather than relying on the counter attack they will press the issue more up front. They have a good midfield that outmatches the Koreans and that will be key in this group encounter. Also, if Mexico can thwart the counter, which is South Koreas best chance to score, they will be in great shape.
Mexico does not have the best attack and in their last five matches they have only scored two goals.
South Korea vs. Mexico betting predictions
Mexico’s attack has been less than stellar in their last few matches and while only scoring two goals in their last five matches they will surpass that total in this match.
With South Korea needing to score and pressing on the attack Mexico will carve them up in the midfield and up front and they will win this match 3-0.
