Super Bowl LIV early betting markets, futures odds & specials
Super Bowl 54 is set with the Kansas City Chiefs set to take on the San Francisco 49ers in Miami on February 2.
When the conference championship games were over and the initial Super Bowl betting lines came out, the Chiefs were 1.5-point favorites with a total over/under of 53.5. While many online sportsbooks still have those odds, some books have the Chiefs as 1.0-point favorites with the total sitting at 54.
This is the Chiefs’ first Super Bowl in 50 years, as they won Super Bowl IV when they heat the Minnesota Vikings 23-7. On the other side of the coin, the 49ers are back in the big game for the sixth time. They last played in the Super Bowl in 2012 when they lost to the Baltimore Ravens 34-31. They had won their previous five Super Bowls all in the years from 1982-1995.
This game features Patrick Mahomes and the dynamic aerial offense of the Chiefs facing the 49ers, who have a stifling defense and are led on offense by a great ground game. Kansas City have outscored their two playoff opponents 86-55, with Mahomes passing for 615 yards with eight touchdowns and no interceptions.
The 49ers have outscored opponents 64-30 in their two playoff games. Their defense has forced five turnovers in the two games and in those games San Francisco have totaled 471 rushing yards, including rushing for 285 yards in the NFC title game. You can tell the 49ers are a run-first team, as quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo only has 210 yards with a touchdown and an interception in the two games. In the NFC title game, he was only 6/8 for 77 yards.
Super Bowl LIV betting markets
The Super Bowl is a huge NFL betting event that offers a vast array of wagering markets, including a number of future bets and outrights. Below are some of the most popular Super Bowl betting options.
Straight bets
The straight bets for the Super Bowl are the spread, total, and moneyline. As stated before, most NFL betting sites have the Chiefs pegged as 1.5-point favorites with an over/under points total of 53.5. The Super Bowl moneyline odds read as Chiefs -118 / 49ers -102.
Parlay bets
While you cannot make a multi-game parlay on the Super Bowl, some online bookmakers will allow you to combine several wagers on the big game. For example, you could take the spread, the total, and a prop bet and have a pretty good payout. The more bets you have in the parlay, the more the payout will be. There are also cross-sport parlay bets available, so you could combine your Super Bowl bet with legs from the NHL or NBA, for instance.
Proposition bets
There are tons of Super Bowl prop bets to be made. Some have even odds, like standard line bets, and some have inflated odds. They can relate to teams, players, or any number of isolated events within the game.
One cool thing about the Super Bowl is the amount of crazy prop bets available that do not have anything to do with the game. These include betting on the coin toss, will the National Anthem be Over/Under 123.50 seconds, On The Floor first song by J.Lo, and will J.Lo or Shakira drink a Pepsi during the performance.
Some of more popular Super Bowl team props include which team will score first, 49ers first to 10 points in the game, and Chiefs score first with a field goal. You can also make prop bets such as will a field goal be the first score, will there be a safety in the game, and will there be an interception in the first half.
Super Bowl player prop bets include will Patrick Mahomes have a pass reception of 45 or more yards, George Kittle Over/Under 69.5 receiving yards, Travis Kelse Over/Under 5.5 catches, and Damien Williams Over/Under 55.5 rushing yards.
As stated before, some of the Super Bowl props have even odds while some have inflated odds. You could really clean up with bets such as total points scored 22-28 +2975, Kansas City win by exactly 38 points +30000, and tied end of first quarter and goes to overtime +2000.
