Title contenders Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain will clash in a blockbuster in Spain, while Arsenal will welcome Olympiacos to the Emirates Stadium.

Union Saint-Gilloise vs Newcastle United

The Magpies are coming off a narrow 2–1 defeat to Arsenal but remain a higher-caliber side used to Premier League tempo. Union SG are flying domestically and are tough at home, yet this is a jump in quality. Expect Newcastle’s set pieces and fresh legs off the bench to be the difference late in Belgium.

Qarabağ vs FC Copenhagen

Qarabağ are typically strong in Baku and arrive confident after a 3–2 Matchday 1 win at Benfica, while Copenhagen opened with a 2–2 home draw against Bayer Leverkusen. Recent results for the Danes are mixed, but they’re usually organized and hard to beat. With both teams in decent shape and little between them, a share of the points looks likely.

Barcelona vs Paris Saint-Germain

Wednesday, October 1 – 9pm CEST – Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys, Barcelona, Spain

Barcelona’s teen star Lamine Yamal set up the winner in the 2–1 victory over Real Sociedad at the weekend, and he’s getting regular chances in big games. The Spaniard has five goals to his name in the UCL from 15 matches, and now he faces a PSG side that has been conceding goals on a regular basis this season. Yamal looks like a great anytime goalscorer play in the marquee matchup of Matchday 2.

AS Monaco vs Manchester City

Wednesday, October 1 – 9pm CEST – Stade Louis-II, Monaco

Manchester City are in strong form after a 2–0 Champions League win over Napoli and a 5–1 league win against Burnley, showing plenty of firepower. Monaco score and concede in bunches with a 5–2 Ligue 1 win against Metz, 3–1 at FC Lorient, and a 4–1 UCL loss to Club Brugge. Goals should flow even if City take control early.

Borussia Dortmund vs Athletic Club

Wednesday, October 1 – 9pm CEST – Signal Iduna Park, Dortmund, Germany

Borussia Dortmund have not lost in seven matches, including four straight clean sheets in the Bundesliga. Athletic Club are competitive but tend to create fewer clear chances away, making it harder to keep pace if they fall behind. The Germans look too strong across the board at home.

Napoli vs Sporting CP

Wednesday, October 1 – 9pm CEST – Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, Naples, Italy

Napoli return home needing points after a 2–0 loss to Man City on Matchday 1, and they usually respond well at Stadio Diego Armando Maradona. Sporting CP rarely park the bus in Europe — they hit four in their group opener — but also tend to leave space in behind. The hosts should grab all three points in a high-scoring encounter.

Villarreal vs Juventus

Wednesday, October 1 – 9pm CEST – Estadio de la Cerámica, Villarreal, Spain

Juventus are unbeaten in Serie A and endured a 4–4 shootout against Dortmund on Matchday 1 which shows their scoring punch. Villarreal have wobbled against stronger opposition lately, losing 0–1 at Spurs in the UCL and 0–2 at Atlético in La Liga, although they did beat Osasuna at home. Juve present great value with top sports betting sites to cause an upset.

Bayer Leverkusen vs PSV Eindhoven

Wednesday, October 1 – 9pm CEST – BayArena, Leverkusen, Germany

Bayer Leverkusen have been finding the net regularly — 2-1 at St. Pauli and 3-1 against Frankfurt in the Bundesliga — so goals shouldn’t be an issue. PSV lost 1–3 on Matchday 1 and are missing striker Ricardo Pepi, which dents their punch. In a game that should be far from dour, Leverkusen look the goods for all three points.

Arsenal vs Olympiacos

Wednesday, October 1 – 8pm BST – Emirates Stadium, London, England

The Gunners opened their European campaign with a tidy 2–0 away win at Athletic Club and looked solid at the back. Olympiacos created little in a 0–0 home draw with Pafos on Matchday 1, so goals may be hard to find in London. If Arsenal are to be a genuine threat in the UCL this season, they need to win with ease at home against the likes of Olympiacos.
