Wednesday, September 17 – 7:45pm EEST – Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium, Piraeus, Greece
Olympiacos at Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium is typically a tough assignment, and they bring European pedigree as the 2023-24 Conference League winners under José Luis Mendilibar. Pafos are Champions League debutants after a taxing qualifying run, and they just lost 1-0 at home to Apollon Limassol on September 13. Stepping up in Piraeus four days later will have its challenges against a strong Olympiacos side.
Wednesday, September 17 – 6:45pm CEST – Fortuna Arena, Prague, Czechia
Eight of Slavia’s last nine European home games have produced three or more goals, and Bodø/Glimt arrive off a 5–0 UCL playoff rout of Sturm Graz and a 7–1 Eliteserien league win over Kristiansund on Saturday. This should be another high-scoring affair.
Wednesday, September 17 – 8pm CEST – Parc des Princes, Paris, France
PSG’s title run last season included a 2–1 home win over Arsenal in the semifinals before a 5–0 demolition of Inter in the final — evidence that, once ahead, they can turn the screw. Atalanta are dangerous, but this is a step up away from home. If PSG’s 4–0 start in Ligue 1 is anything to go by, they should prove too strong across the park.
Wednesday, September 17 – 8pm CEST – Johan Cruijff ArenA, Amsterdam, Netherlands
Lautaro Martínez became Inter’s all-time Champions League top scorer last season, and he’s found the back of the net for both club and country over the past month. With Ajax under John Heitinga still settling, Martínez’s near-post runs and finishing on crosses make him the likeliest Nerazzurri threat to punish any defensive errors.
Wednesday, September 17 – 8pm CEST – Allianz Arena, Munich, Germany
Harry Kane hit a brace in Bayern’s 5–0 tune-up against Hamburg in the Bundesliga on Saturday and leads the line for Wednesday’s UCL opener against Chelsea. His Champions League record at the Allianz is elite, scoring four against Dinamo Zagreb last season and a knockout-stage brace against Leverkusen. Penalty duties further tilt first-scorer probability Kane’s way.
Wednesday, September 17 – 8pm BST – Anfield, Liverpool, England
Mohamed Salah netted Liverpool’s 95th-minute penalty winner in the Premier League at Burnley on Sunday, and he also scored for Egypt over the international break. He has punished Atlético before, bagging a brace in the 3–2 win at the Metropolitano in 2021, and is the Reds’ all-time leading scorer in Europe. Add in Anfield home advantage, and Salah’s threat in front of goal intensifies.
