Who will take out the UFC Lightweight Championship title in Abu Dhabi?
Saturday, September 7 at The Arena in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates
The UFC Lightweight Championship title will be on the line when Khabib Nurmagomedov and Dustin Poirier lock horns at UFC 242 in Abu Dhabi this weekend.
That is one of four lightweight bouts on the main card, while the heavyweight clash between Curtis Blaydes and Shamil Abdurakhimov completes the bill.
Let’s look at the latest UFC odds and check out the best bets for Khabib vs Poirier and the other featured fights.
Nurmagomedov – -454.55 at Nags.bet Poirier – +330
Khabib heads to the UAE on the longest undefeated streak in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. The last of his 27 consecutive wins came in October 2018, when he defeated Conor McGregor at UFC 229. This is Nurmagomedov’s first fight since copping a nine-month suspension and a $500k fine for attacking McGregor’s cornerman, Dillon Danis.
While Khabib was away, Poirier defeated Max Holloway by unanimous decision at UFC 236 to claim the interim UFC Lightweight Championship title. That was the Louisiana native’s fourth win on the bounce, taking his overall fight record to 25-5-1. Almost half of those victories have come by knockout.
Nurmagomedov is a quality grappler with a few serious weapons, so Poirier will have to be on top of his striking game to have any chance. While Khabib has an even spread of knockouts (eight), submissions (nine) and points decisions (10) among his 27 wins, only one of his last eight fights was settled by KO or TKO. Back the Russian to get it done either on the floor or on the score sheet.

Edson Barboza vs Paul Felder
The co-main event at UFC 242 sees Barboza (-156.25) tipped for a repeat of UFC on Fox 16, where he beat Felder (+127) by unanimous decision. But Felder is a stronger fighter than he was four years ago and brings better form into this clash, so the underdog is a decent shout here.
Paul Felder to win – -156.25 at Nags.bet
Islam Makhachev vs Davi Ramos
When will Makhachev (-370.37) get to face a ranked fighter? The 27-year-old Russian is on a five-win tear after defeating Arman Tsarukyan in April and looks ready to take a step up. While Ramos (+282) has won four fights on the bounce, he is yet to face anyone close to Makhachev’s calibre.
Islam Makhachev to win – -370.37 at Nags.bet
Curtis Blaydes vs Shamil Abdurakhimov
Blaydes (-500) heads to Abu Dhabi as the hottest favourite on the main card, and with good reason. The no.4 UFC heavyweight is a takedown machine and has only two losses to his name after nine fights, both against the higher-ranked Francis Ngannou. Abdurakhimov (+360) will do well just to make a show of it.
Curtis Blaydes to win – -500 at Nags.bet
Mairbek Taisumov vs Carlos Diego Ferreira
Taisumov (-270.27) should be a ranked lightweight fighter, but his inability to secure a US visa has hindered his career progress to date. Ferreira (+214) has dodged doping bans, weigh-in issues and kidney stones to put together a four-fight streak, but the Brazilian’s winning run will come to an end in the UAE.
Mairbek Taisumov to win – -270.27 at Nags.bet
Nags.bet multi odds = +625
If we put our UFC 242 betting tips into a multi bet at Nags.bet, we get a tidy return of +625 for five very winnable legs. If you want a bit more from a parlay of that scope, you can take Khabib to win by points decision (+200) or to win by submission (+200) and thus boost the total payout into double digits.
