UFC Fight Night 181 betting preview

The story highlighting the UFC Fight Night 181 card is that the main event will in all likelihood be the final UFC bout of Anderson Silva’s storied career, but there is money to be made in the fights leading up to the headliner this Saturday night in Las Vegas.

Bryce Mitchell (-131) vs Andre Fili (+111)

Bryce Mitchell (13-0-0) is off to a perfect 13-0 start to his MMA career, including a 2-0 start in the UFC. This Saturday he’ll get his toughest test to date against Andre Fili (21-7), a featherweight veteran that has compiled a 9-6 record in the UFC with wins in three of his last four fights.

This should be a competitive bout between two fighters with very conflicting styles. Fili will have the advantage when these two are standing and trading blows, while Mitchell will have the clear advantage on the mat. Mitchell opened this fight as a bigger favorite, and that would have made the betting decision more difficult, but at his current price he’s the clear play to win this one with his wrestling game.

Kevin Holland (-900) vs Charlie Ontiveros (+600)

What was originally supposed to be a bout between Krzystof Jotko and Makhmud Muradov two weeks ago is now a bout between Kevin Holland (19-5-0) and Charlie Ontiveros (11-6-0), as both Jotko and Muradov had to pull out of the fight with injuries. This is not a compelling fight; Holland is 6-1 in his last seven UFC fights and Ontiveros is an underwhelming promotional newcomer. Holland rolls to an easy win.

Greg Hardy ([rm_Geo_odds val=-340]) vs Maurice Greene ([rm_Geo_odds val=+265])

Greg Hardy (6-2-0) bounced back from a loss to Alexander Volkov with a win over Yorgan De Castro in his last fight. Hardy is an unpopular fighter due to his history both outside of the octagon (with a history of domestic abuse) and inside of it with a dangerous illegal knee leading to a disqualification and the use of an inhaler leading to a no contest. But while many UFC fans may be rooting for Maurice Greene (9-4-0), Hardy’s athleticism and superior striking in this bout should lead the controversial heavyweight to another win.

Bobby Green (-285) vs Thiago Moises (+245)

Bobby Green (27-10-1) and Thiago Moses (13-4-0) round out a favorite-heavy card with another bout that is likely to go with the UFC betting markets. Green is having an excellent 2020 with three straight wins over Clay Guida, Lando Vannata, and Alan Patrick, while Thiago is an underwhelming 2-2 to date with the promotion. Look for Green to keep this fight off the mat and earn enough points to pick up a decision win.
