UFC Vegas 20: Rozenstruik vs Gane betting tips – 27/2/2021
BettingPlanet.com takes a look at the latest odds, best bets and fight form ahead of the UFC Vegas 20 main event featuring Jairzinho Rozenstruik and Ciryl Gane.
The UFC Heavyweight Championship picture is quite crowded with Stipe Miocic and Francis Ngannou set to fight for the title at UFC 260, Jon Jones lined up for the winner of that fight, and Derrick Lewis arguably next in the queue after defeating Curtis Blaydes last week. But perhaps the winner of this UFC Vegas 20 main event bout on Saturday between Jairzinho Rozenstruik (11-1-0) and Ciryl Gane (7-0-0) will earn a bout with Lewis for that next-in-line spot.
Gane has passed every test the UFC has thrown at him so far with flying colors. He is 4-0 with the promotion with submission wins in his first two bouts and a technical knockout win over Junior dos Santos in his most recent trip to the octagon in December. The 30-year-old took very little time climbing into the top 10 in the UFC Heavyweight rankings and could jump up to no.6 or no.5 with a win in this one.
Every fight of Rozenstruik’s career with the UFC has ended by knockout. He has been on the delivering end of five knockouts with the promotion, including two in under 30 seconds against Allen Crowder and Andrei Arlovski. The one blemish on Rozenstruik’s professional record came when he was on the wrong end of a knockout as Ngannou stopped him in just 20 seconds at UFC 249 in May. Like Gane, Rozenstruik knocked out dos Santos in his last bout.
This is a very interesting matchup between two of the heavyweight division’s best prospects. Gane has looked the part of a legitimate championship contender and moves more like a light heavyweight than anything else. The small octagon at the APEX Las Vegas could favor Gane in allowing him the chance to close the gap and take this fight to the mat, where his submission skills could come into play.
However, the price on Gane is just too short. He is more than capable of winning this fight, and it is reasonable that he is listed as a favorite, but he’s taking a clear step up in competition here against a very talented heavyweight. Rozenstruik possesses decent takedown defense and outstanding power with 10 of his 11 professional wins coming by way of knockout. As Derrick Lewis showed us last week, even the best wrestlers are one punch away from being put to sleep in this division. We’ll go for the upset at these odds.
