Uruguay margin betting and tips vs. Saudi Arabia | FIFA World Cup odds
Uruguay will look to ensure its passage out of the group stage when it takes on a besieged Saudi Arabia in its 2018 FIFA World Cup match up on Wednesday.
Bovada has Uruguay as the big favorites betting at -800 with Saudi Arabia at +2000 and the draw sits at +750. The Over/Under for this match is set at 2.5 goals.
Well, oddsmakers are not giving Saudi Arabia much of a chance in this Group A encounter and with good reason, as in the tournament’s opening match they were throttled losing to host Russia 5-0.
These teams have met twice all time, both in friendlies, with Saudi Arabia shocking Uruguay beating them 3-2 in 2002 and playing to a 1-1 draw in 2014.
What lineup will Saudi Arabia use in this match? That is a big question in this match for manager Juan Antonio Pizzic after the squads less than impressive performance against Russia. Striker Mohammad Al-Sahlawi did not have many touches and it would not be surprising if he started this match on the bench.
Saudi Arabia actually had more time of possession in the bad loss to Russia (61% to 39%), but they had no shots on target and only had two corner kicks in the whole match. With their position, they have nothing to lose, so the possession will not matter and they have to look to attack and especially look for the counter-attack.

Uruguay beat Egypt 1-0 in their opening match in Russia and while they bagged the three points they were less than impressive in doing so. Jose Gimenez played the hero for the squad heading in a corner in extra time.
In the win over Egypt Rodrigo Bentancur, Giorgian De Arrascaeta and Nahitan Nandez formed the midfield, but they did not play very well in the middle of the pitch. Carlos Sánchez and Cristian Rodríguez are a couple of experienced veterans on the bench in the first match and they may see minutes in this one. While the midfield was not great the defensive back line played well keeping a clean sheet keeping Egypt to only three shots on target and they did not give up any corner kicks.
If Uruguay steps up their play in the midfield they have a good shot at dominating this match, as Saudi Arabia had major issues in that area of the pitch in their bad opening loss. They simply did not control the ball in that area of the pitch and if that happens again they will be toast.
It is pretty basic for the Saudis, as they have to play an entirely different match then did in the embarrassing loss to Russia. Expect full-scale changes on the pitch, but will it matter? For Uruguay they were a little lucky to escape their opening match with a win. Their defense was there, but their attack, which is a good one, was thwarted. If they can get that group going up front this match may get ugly like the Saudi’s first one.

On the other side of the coin Saudi Arabia has lost their last four matches and were crushed in the World Cup opener.
Uruguay’s attack will come to life in this match winning 4-0 and Saudi Arabia will be badly beaten for the 2nd straight match.
