This Big 10 Championship Game has BCS implications for Ohio State, as they have to win to have a chance to get in the playoffs. There are tons of wagers to be made on this NCAA conference title game, so punters should jump on them now to get the best odds.
Northwestern was a surprise winner of the Big 10 West this season and they have a good defense and won their last three games on the season. Still, hard to believe a team that beat three ranked teams took losses facing Duke and Akron. They are big-time underdogs in this game that will be played at a neutral site and no surprise facing the Buckeyes, who scored 62 points in their last game against a top five Michigan squad.
These teams have not met since the 2016 season where the Buckeyes beat the Wildcats 24-20.
Northwestern has the nation’s 48th ranked defense and has only given up an average of 13.3 ppg in their last three games, but go up against an Ohio State offense that ranks 2nd in the nation.
This season Northwestern is 8-4 SU with an ATS record of 6-4-2`and an O/U record of 5-7 and Ohio State is 11-1 SU with an ATS record of 5-7 and an O/U record of 6-6.
Ohio State has covered the spread in fiver of their last six games against Ohio State.
In their season finale Northwestern beat an Illinois team 24-16 team that ended up 4-8 and at home they failed to cover as a big 16-point favorite. Clayton Thorson passed for 110 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions and freshman running back Isaiah Bowser had a big game with 166 rushing yards. Browser will be big in this game facing Ohio State and he has rushed for at least 165 yards in two of his last three games.
Browser will be facing an Ohio State run defense that ranks 62nd in the nation and gave up 161 rushing yards in their last game. The Wildcats need to control the ball and keep the OSU offense on the sidelines and to do that they will have to run the ball.
Ohio State was more than impressive in their last game beating Michigan 62-39 where they had almost 600 total yards of offense facing a Wolverines team that came into the game with one of the best defenses in the nation. Dwayne Haskins lit Michigan up to the tune of 396 passing yards with six touchdowns and he did not have an interception. The wide receiver duo of Parris Campbell and K.J. Hill combined for 1,746 receiving yards with TD and the running back duo of J.K Dobbins and Mike Weber combined for 1,768 rushing yards and 13 TD.
Northwestern only ranks 79th in the nation in pass defense and they have to get to Haskins in this game, as if their pass rush struggles he may light up their secondary.
