Will the Toronto Blue Jays win the 2015 World Series?

THE Blue Jays are the feel-good story across North American sports right now.

It has been more than two decades since Toronto got any respect in MLB, but make no mistake, this team has earned that respect and the 2015 Blue Jays are now the most-feared team in baseball.

Being feared is a new, exciting feeling for long-suffering Toronto fans.

Toronto have won the World Series twice. In fact – they won consecutive World Series (1992 & 1993).

However, the Blue Jays haven’t made the MLB playoffs since 1993. That’s the longest playoff drought in North American sports (NFL: Buffalo Bills 1999, NBA: Minnesota Timberwolves 2004 & Edmonton Oilers 2005-06).

Alex Anthopoulos made headlines during the MLB trade deadline and his moves have worked out great.

David Price is 4-0 in five starts with the Blue Jays – he has a 1.98 ERA and 1.08 WHIP. Price has 41 strikeouts in 36.1 IP and he has come through big. Troy Tulowitzki has cooled down a bit, but he has 4 HR’s and 11 RBI’s in 28 games.

Prior to the trade deadline, things weren’t looking good for the Blue Jays.

Toronto went 12-13 in the month of July, but they’ve gone 21-6 in August. They now hold a 1.5-game lead on the New York Yankees in the American League East, but that’s hardly a cushion.

The Blue Jays are looking great in the wild card race, but they need to win the division to make a playoff run.

Despite their strong record, the Blue Jays have still struggled away from the Rogers Centre – they’re 31-33 on the road (43-23 at home).

The divisional race is going to come down to the final week most likely. The Blue Jays still play the Yankees seven times in September (three at home and four on the road) – those seven games will go a long way in deciding the AL East winner.

Toronto also have series against the Orioles (2x), Red Sox (2x), Braves and Rays.

Things aren’t going to be easy in September and one bad stretch could knock them out of the race. It’s too early to get excited if you’re a Blue Jays fan, but you have to love the Jays’ chances at ending their playoff drought.

The Blue Jays World Series futures odds have been all over the place this season.

Before the regular season at the end of March – the Jays odds to win the World Series were +2500 (25/1). After the trade deadline on August 1st 2015 – the Jays futures odds to win the World Series were still a healthy +1600 (16/1).

However, the Blue Jays futures were bet heavily during August and they’re now the favorites in the market.

No team is playing better baseball, but winning the World Series or AL Pennant isn’t going to be an easy task.

The majority of the players on the Blue Jays don’t have playoff experience and most haven’t been in the hunt for the AL East in September. Will that inexperience cause the Blue Jays to implode, or will they continue dominating?

I can’t recommend the Blue Jays at +420 to win the World Series, even though I believe they have a good chance.
