Rugby Women's World Cup 2025 preview

After five weeks of drama, sellout crowds and record-breaking TV audiences, the 2025 Women’s Rugby World Cup comes to a head at Twickenham on Saturday, Septemeber 27.

A packed house of 82,000 fans will watch Canada try to knock off England in the championship match, while New Zealand and France will battle for bronze earlier in the day.

Here’s how both matchups look, along with our top rugby betting picks.

Bronze final: New Zealand vs France

Saturday, September 27 — 12:30pm BST — Allianz Stadium, Twickenham

The Black Ferns are reeling after a stunning 34-19 semifinal loss to Canada. Down 24-7 at halftime, they never fully recovered despite scoring twice in the second half.

Portia Woodman-Wickliffe, Ruahei Demant and Braxton Sorensen-McGee still provide plenty of firepower, but New Zealand must clean up their breakdown work to avoid back-to-back defeats.

France held their own for an hour against England before falling 35-17 in the semis. Kelly Arbey and Nassira Konde sparked their attack and their line speed rattled the Red Roses early.

Les Bleues have taken four of the last six head-to-heads with New Zealand, including a 2023 thriller, and they’ll be highly motivated.

New Zealand’s class and finishing power should show up in the second half. Back the Black Ferns to cover by double digits.

Championship final: England vs Canada

Saturday, September 27 — 4pm BST — Allianz Stadium, Twickenham

England are ranked No.1 in the world, fully professional since 2019 and riding a 32-match winning streak. They survived a major scare from France in the semis before Megan Jones iced it late.

The Red Roses’ set pieces, rolling maul and tactical kicking remain rock-solid. Also, they’ve beaten Canada 33 times in 37 meetings, including the 2014 final.

Canada, though, have been the breakout story. They crushed Australia 46-5 in the quarters and shocked reigning champs New Zealand 34-19 in the semis after jumping out to a 24-7 halftime lead.

Captain Sophie de Goede, scrum-half Justine Pelletier and Alex Tessier lead a lightning-fast ruck game that’s been described as “like a Formula 1 pit stop”. The Maple Leafs are unbeaten in 2025 and full of belief despite funding challenges back home.

Canada’s speed, fitness and breakdown dominance give them a real chance to stun the Red Roses. At +215, they’re worth a shot with top online betting sites.
