2018 US Open second round parlay picks – free tennis multi specials

It is the 2nd round of the Men’s draw in the US Open and things are literally heating up big time.

The heat in the Big Apple has been sweltering and just on the men’s side three players have already retired because of the extreme heat.

The players have received a new heat break where they get 10 minutes to cool off after the 3rd set. In the Novak Djokovic vs. Marton Fucsovics match players were side by side taking ice baths at the break.

On the men’s side of the draw there have not been many upsets with most of the seeded players advancing.

Here is a multi-top parlay for some of the 2nd round matches that will be held on Thursday.

Leg 1 – Gael Monfils vs. Kei Nishikori

Thursday 4PM EST

Going out on a limb on this one taking the unseeded Monfils to beat 21st seed Ken Nishikori. Monfils beat Facundo Bagnis in four sets in the first round and after losing the 2nd set he won the last two sets 6-0, 6-0. He is 22-14 on tour this season and his career high APT rank is 6th back in 2016.

While Nishikori has a 3-1 all-time record facing Monfils he lost to him the last time facing him in last season Masters Rodgers Cup. In the first round Nishikori had no problems beating Maximilian Marterer winning 6-2, 6-2, 6-3. However, he will have a tougher time in this match facing Monfils, who advanced to the 4th round of the last Major in Wimbledon taking down two seeded players in the process.

Monfils beat two seeded players at Wimbledon and he will take out one in this match beating Nishikori in what is sure to be a close and exciting match.

Leg 2 – Alexander Zverev vs. Nicolas Mahut

Thursday 6PM EST

Zverev is the 4th seed in the tournament and he crushed Peter Polansky in the first round 6-2, 6-1, 6-2. He already has three singles titles this season, but his best showing in a Major this season has been advancing to the quarterfinals in the French Open.

Mahut beat Corentin Moutet in the first round 6-2, 7-5, 5-7, 6-4 in a math between two players not ranked in the top 100. Mahut is only 4-6 on the season on tour and he has been playing doubles exclusively in the last two months. He has only advanced past the 2nd round in one tournament this season when he played singles.

The 6’6″ Zverev will dominate Mahut from the get go in this 2nd round match, which is why the good money is taking him to win in straight sets.

Roger Federer vs. Benoit Paire

Thursday 7PM EST

In the first round parlay betting article I wrote I took Federer to win 3-0 and he did just that beating Yoshihito Nishioka 6-2, 6-2, 6-4. This time around the smart money is to take him to win 3-0 again in his 2nd round match facing Benoit Paire.

Paire is the 56th ranked player in the world and he did not have an easy time in the first round beating Dennis Novak 7-6 (8-6), 3-6, 7-5, 7-6 (7-5). While he did take a set off Federer earlier in the season in the 2nd round of the Weber Open in June he will not be so fortunate this time around in a Major.

King Roger looks in form, as usual, and he usually dominates the first few rounds of the Majors. That is exactly what will happen in this match with him beating Paire in straight sets.
