Serena Williams is on track to make history this weekend at the 2019 Wimbledon Championships.

If she lifts the trophy on Saturday, the American will equal Margaret Court’s long-standing record of 24 grand slam singles titles.

Standing in Serena’s way is Simona Halep, who is angling for her second career title in the grand slams.

But for a three-set tussle with Mihaela Buzarnescu in the second round, the Romanian has had a breezy run to the final that included a 6-1 6-3 demolition of Elina Svitolina in the semis.

Williams made similarly short work of Barbora Strycova (6-1 6-2) in the last four and has dropped only two sets for the tournament, so both players bring red-hot form into Saturday’s final.
