Aryna Sabalenka continued her dominance on the WTA Tour with another championship performance on Saturday, defeating Jessica Pegula in straight sets to win the 2025 Miami Open and add a record-extending eighth WTA 1000 title to her resume.

Top tennis betting sites had Sabalenka listed as the -333.33 favorite before the final, and despite some early hiccups, she once again proved too strong for Pegula in a big-stage matchup.

The world No.1 dropped serve three times in a tight first set but came through when it counted, taking it 7-5 before running away with the second 6-2.

“I’m super happy to have this trophy,” Sabalenka said post-match.

“Finally, I was able to play my best tennis in the final, and I’m just super happy with the result and with the performance, I’d say, these months.

“Honestly going into this match, I had the mentality that no matter what happens, if she’s going break me, I had the mentality to stay there, to focus on myself, to fight for every point no matter what.

“I didn’t want to lose another final, to be honest. It’s really tough to lose in the final. So if someone would say that, I’d be, like, okay, it’s going to be a battle, I’m ready for that.”

It was the third hardcourt final the two have contested in the past seven months, and Sabalenka has won all three.

She now holds a 7-2 head-to-head record over Pegula, who was appearing in her third Miami Open final.

“Super tough final today,” Pegula said.

“Aryna played high level again. I feel like she just keeps coming up with raising her level in key moments of the match when she needs to. I feel like that was the big difference today and the last few times I have played her.”

The win cements Sabalenka’s lead atop the WTA rankings, with the 26-year-old now more than 3,000 points clear of second-placed Iga Swiatek.

It also boosts her odds heading into the clay season, with tennis sportsbooks trimming her price to +400 for the French Open.

Swiatek remains the runaway favorite to win at Roland Garros, currently paying -175.44 at Nags.bet.
