Could New Hampshire become eighth US state to legalise sports betting?

NEW Hampshire is just a few crucial steps away from becoming the next state in the United States to legalise sports betting.
After building support from both sides of the political aisle, a sports gambling bill that will legalise, regulate and tax only needs to clear the Senate to make its way towards the Governor’s desk to be officially made law.
The New Hampshire Governor, Chris Sununu has already publicly given his support to the bill, providing a strong impression that it is a fait accompli and the state should already be a target for bookmakers looking for new, fertile ground to set up shop.
A bill that would authorize regulated sports gambling is making its way through the legislative obstacle course and, if it clears the Senate, will be able to move forward at a rapid pace.
The bill, named HB 480 would allow up to 10 venues across the state — casinos, bars and licensed venues — to offer bets on US and international professional sports.
In addition to the retail licenses, online and smartphone betting will also be a key factor — a factor that is expected to generate serious revenue for the state.
A Government report released last week estimated that New Hampshire could rake in as much as $7.5 million by 2021 and a whopping $13.5 million by 2023 — money that has already been promised to the state’s education sector.
New Hampshire would become the ninth state in the US to legalise sports betting, following New Jersey’s successful bid in the Supreme Court to end the Federal prohibition in 2018.
Other states, including New York and Arkansas, are close to introducing legalisation, while an estimated two dozen other states are now actively discussing the idea.
