Djokovic to partner Kyrgios in Brisbane International doubles
Novak Djokovic and Nick Kyrgios will play doubles together at the Brisbane International in January, with the pair announcing their partnership on Monday.
The duo have shared a mercurial past, with Kyrgios publicly mocking Djokovic earlier in his career but siding with him during his ban from Australia during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We definitely have a bit of a bromance now, which is weird,” Kyrgios said before the two played in the 2022 Wimbledon final.
“I think everyone knows there was no love lost for a while there.”
Both Djokovic and Kyrgios will also contest the singles event at the Brisbane International, which starts on December 29.
The event will be Kyrgios’ first ATP Tour tournament since June 2023, with the Australian playing just three competitive matches since making the quarter-finals of the US Open in 2022.
He is seeking to make a comeback in 2025, having suffered ankle, wrist and shoulder injuries over the past two years.
Djokovic, on the other hand, is the top seed at the Brisbane International and will be the outright favourite when tennis betting sites release their title odds.
The Serbian went the entire 2024 season without winning a Grand Slam — the first time he has done so since 2017.
However, the former No.1 has shared that he is motivated to play more in 2025, competing at the Brisbane International for the first time since 2009.
Djokovic is on the third line of betting at +300 with Bet365 for the 2025 Australian Open, which starts the week after the Brisbane International finishes.
Kyrgios has longer odds to win the year’s first Grand Slam, paying +4000 at most tennis bookmakers to lift the trophy in Melbourne.
