Dos Santos vs Gane UFC betting preview
It seems like it has been quite a few fights since Junior dos Santos was last favorited, and this bout with the up-and-coming Ciryl Gane is no different. The UFC might be putting dos Santos up for gatekeeper status as of this upcoming contest, and if he loses, that might be where he lands for his next few fights.
Playing devil’s advocate for JDS, his three straight losses have all come to beasts of the UFC Heavyweight division in Jairzinho Rozenstruik, Curtis Blaydes, and Francis Ngannou. UFC betting sites might be giving him less credit than he deserves.

Gane is 6-0 professionally and 3-0 since making his UFC debut. He is quick on his feet and has a lean, strong build for a heavyweight. His most recent win came in December of 2019 in a three-round unanimous decision over Tanner Boser where he outstruck his opponent 65-32. An interesting stat from that fight is how many head strikes Gane avoided, only being hit with 13 of Boser’s 83 attempts. Look for him to try to fade JDS and his heavy right hand and storm him with punches and maybe a clinch this fight.
Dos Santos is now sitting at 21-8 professionally after the aforementioned hat-trick of defeats. In no way is he washed up yet, as he is only 36, and we have seen fighters like Glover Teixeira at 41 continue to mix it up and stake a claim to a title shot. In order to win he must move his feet and keep distance while looking to counter a Gane push. If the veteran can do this, the win could be his and he would be back in the hunt.
Dos Santos’s last five fights have ended before the third round, and although Gane’s last fight was a three-round decision against Tanner Boser, we don’t see this one going further than two. Expect numerous punches from Gane and large shots from JDS. Take the finish.
Gane has finished two of his three UFC fights by submission. Although JDS hasn’t been submitted since 2007, Gane could bring this one to the floor and finish it there.
Junior dos Santos vs Ciryl Gane UFC 256 predictions
We are not betting the moneyline as it looks to continue to widen, but we favor Ciryl Gane to win this one inside three rounds and thus establish himself as a new force to be reckoned with in the UFC Heavyweight division.
