Miami Heat at Boston Celtics

The Miami Heat have won three in a row and four of their last five games to sit top of the Southeast Division. Two of their last three games ended in double-digit wins and Jimmy Butler is enjoying an excellent first season in South Beach, leading the team in scoring (19 ppg) and assists (6.7 apg).

The Boston Celtics have won three of their last four games and are half a game back of the surprising Toronto Raptors in the Atlantic Division. Boston are one of the best defensive teams in the NBA and, just like Miami, their new star in Kemba Walker has fit in nicely and is averaging 21.6 ppg.

This is the first game between these teams this season. While the Heat have covered the spread in their last five games against the Celtics on the road, Boston are 7-0 at home this season.

The Heat played on Tuesday night, beating the Raptors 121-110. As a rule of thumb, you should avoid betting on any team on a back-to-back on the road. The Celtics did not play on Tuesday and are more rested, which will help them win and cover as they keep their perfect home record intact.

Minnesota Timberwolves at Dallas Mavericks

The Minnesota Timberwolves are coming off a 115-107 home loss to the Memphis Grizzlies which snapped their two-game winning streak. While Minnesota are only 3-7 at home this season, they are 7-2 on the road.

The hot Dallas Mavericks have won three in a row and eight of their last nine games. They recently snapped the LA Lakers’ 10-game win streak, while rising star Luka Doncic (30.7 ppg, 10.3 rpg, 9.4 apg) continued his phenomenal season with 33 points and 18 rebounds in a 118-107 win over the New Orleans Pelicans.

Dallas rank fourth in the league in ppg and Minnesota rank seventh with Karl-Anthony Towns and Andrew Miggins both averaging over 24 ppg. This is the first game this season between these Western Conference rivals and the Mavs are 4-1 ATS in their last five games facing the Timberwolves.

Take Dallas in this one even though they played on Tuesday night. The Mavs are at home, while Minnesota have failed to pass their season scoring average in four of their last five games.

The LA Lakers got back into the win column with a solid 105-96 road victory over the Denver Nuggets in their last game. However, that game was on Tuesday night and Anthony Davis played through an illness and needed an IV at the half.

The Utah Jazz are back home after a tough road trip where they lost four of five games, including both of their last two. Utah are one of the better defensive teams in the country and sit 8-1 at home on the season, while Donovan Mitchell and Bojan Bogdanovic are each averaging over 20 ppg.

The Lakers are on the second game of a road back-to-back and AD may not be 100%. Even though the Lakers are tied with the Milwaukee Bucks for the best record in the league, the Jazz are the pick to win and cover at home.
