The 2024 Paris Olympic Games carry on this Sunday, with plenty of exciting events on the schedule. Here are our best bets for Day 9.
Tennis: Men’s Singles Final
In a repeat of the recent Wimbledon final, Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz enters as favourite once again against Serbia’s Novak Djokovic. Winner of the last two grand slams, the 21-year-old has been unstoppable in the Games so far as he is yet to drop a set. It was a dominant 6-1, 6-1 win over Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime in the semi-finals, so back Alcaraz to secure gold at -238.1 with top tennis bookmakers.

Cycling: Women’s Road Race
Entering as the reigning world champion in this event, Belgian rider Lotte Kopecky shapes as the one to beat. With winning results in Strade Bianche, Paris-Roubaix, and second overall at the Giro d’Italia Women, she is in career-best form. After a disappointing result in the time trial, back Kopecky to bounce back as the favourite for gold at +175 with leading sports bookmakers.

Swimming: Women’s 50m Freestyle Final
While all the headlines in this race will go to Sweden’s Sarah Sjostrom (-333.33) as the overwhelming favourite, there is excellent value in this race in the medal market. One of just four swimmers to swim sub-24 seconds this year, Australia’s Shayna Jack is in career-best form. After a disappointing effort in the 100m, expect Jack to bounce back onto the podium at +105 with top Olympic bookmakers.

Swimming: Men’s 1500m Freestyle Final
Already a gold medallist in the 800m earlier this week, Ireland’s Daniel Wiffen is now favourite in what is arguably his strongest event. The 1500m world champion is known for his strong endurance and should clear the field as the race goes on. Although he doesn’t offer much value, Wiffen is the safe bet for the gold at -153.85 with leading swimming oddsmakers.

Athletics: Men’s 100m Final
In one of the most anticipated events of the Olympic Games, the 100m sprint shapes as a two-horse race between Jamaica’s Kishane Thompson (+125) and America’s Noah Lyles (+150). While Lyles gains most of the headlines for this event as the reigning world champion, Thompson is the quickest man in the world this year. As the favourite, the Jamaican offers excellent value for the gold at +125.
